Great second album (Mr. A-Z - Jason Mraz)
Member Name: SaveFerris
Advantages: nice mixture of several styles all done really well Disadvantages: looses it way very occasionally in the second half Album number 2 can be tricky (i'm looking at you Keane) and some artists have sucumbed to the temptation to mail it in (Keane again, seriously, can't emphasise how annoyed i was about that). Jason Mraz is not one of those musicians. This is a guy who really loves his fans, and this album feels like a gift to his fans. Employing his unique brand of lyrical gymnastics he approaches every song, no matter the subject matter in a happily cavalier way that's really refreshing. The first track...Life is wonderful (his favourite of all the songs that he's written...his words) is a really nice simple song that reflects just how simply he see's life. The next two tracks are the "singles", something he makes no attempt to disguise and are suitably fun. After that he toys with a couple of different styles, a particular high being Bella Luna, in which Jason tries his hand at a Latin style and like he does makes it sound like he's been doing it all his life. All in all, this album is typically mraz, and it's nice to see that Jason hasn't felt the need to over-pander to a larger audience, quite content to produce a record that he knows his fans will like. Summary: Certainly not a one hit wonder |
