Fun lyrics, good guitar solos and riffs
Overproduced, too many effects and a bit cheesy

Modern take on the classic doom sound.
Few songs really stand out.

A little more accessible.
This also means it's less definitive.
Griefshire - Elis
Creative gothic metal.
Still relies on all the genre clichés.
Supercoven - Electric Wizard
Extreme stoner doom for the seriously stoned.
Alienating.

Mind-meltingly heavy revival of early doom and psychedelic rock.
Owes its sound to the past.
Come My Fanatics - Electric Wizard
Defines the modern doom sound, effective use of feedback techniques.
A little lacking instrumentally.
Tetra Karcist - Enthroned
Good guitar work, and some hints towards better things.
Rooted too much in the standard black metal sound.
Fatal Design - Entwine
Standard gothic metal for unadventurous HIM fans.
Lacks individual character or memorability.
