This album came out very soon after the live performance for MTV Unplugged which meant that it was not instantly snapped up on release day like many other Jay-Z albums. The reason why I would class this as my favourite Jay-Z album is probably the inclusion of The Roots as the band. This group has represented "real hip hop" for years and this makes the album have that Roots feel to it with Jay over the top. The album kicks off with Izzo (H.O.V.A.) - this is the best rendition of the song I have heard. The live female singer who is ever present throught the album gives the song a much more soulful feel and Jay-Z's delivery is top notch - he ...

The only Jay Z music I had before I bought this album was the bluprint, which I thought was a fairly average album and was not entirely impressed by. My all time favourite Jay Z song is 'Big Pimpin' and seeing there was a version of that song attracted me to this album. As I said I felt the Blueprint was not brilliant but this album is, and it shows the real talent that Jay Z has as a Hip HoP artist. On the album there are many songs from the Blueprint and his other albums but because they are live they sound a lot better. Jigga Man is back in 2001. This is Jay Z's latest album, after the release of the Blueprint LP fans of Reasonable Doubt and early Jay Z fans praised Jigga Man for one of the best albums of his career. This was a turning point in Jay Z's career. Although previously Jay Z had been criticised by hip hop pundits around the world for being too mainstream and loosing the rough rugged sounds that we heard in Reasonable Doubt, in The Blueprint Jay Z returned to his roots as have other artists such as Nas in Stillmatic returning to his Illmatic days.
