Advantages: 5 amazing, amazing songs

Right.
Not a lot has been said about Soulwax, which is a surprise to me. O.K so alternative music junkies such as me are raving about them all the time, but on a wider scale, they aren't so popular. Which is surprising, considering they have they widest sonic vareity this side of Blur. Their sharp image complete with retro style suits is the stuff of festival legend, and for the first time since Mansun we have a band that DRESS like they are rock stars. But what of "Much Against Everyone's Advice"
"Conversation Intercom" is a rock song that will make any disco alive with headbangers. The punkiness of the guitars on the track and the drums (which make you want to shout "air drummers unite!") make this an potentially earth shattering song live.
"When logics die" can almost beat Coldplay at their own game . The soft piano coda moves like a breeze on a summer's dream, the vocalist's plea of "let's spend the night" is moving, and coupled with the haunting strings, it is up there with "Trouble".
"Too many DJ's" is frankly scarily amazing. It is a song in the "Conversation Intercom" breed, but better. The variation in sounds between bridges and chorus' are amazing and so are the crescendoes. Amazing. And it has human beatbox!
"Temptingly yours" is a creamy ballad, and "Funny" is what live gigs are made of. That guitar crunch! And scary vocals!
BUT............
This album is a little disappointing. There a little to many mediocre B sides on it for my liking. "Saturday", "Proverbial Pants" and "Overweight Karate kid" did diddly squat to me in the first impressions department. They seemed to have no point, and eventually drifted into nothingness. "Much Against Everyone's Advice's" should have been a Blur's "Song 2" but it wasn't
This album struggled to
do a Coldplay and have 11 great songs back to back. What Soulwax did do though, was make 5 songs that would be be in the alternative top 40 of the year
