Advantages: Very mellow sound, Shola has a great voice

Disadvantages: None

It's a classic music biz story, young girl on the Underground in London, singing along to her personal stereo is asked by the guy sitting next to her if she would like to become a star. Of course, the story ends happily ever after when the girl goes on to become one of the UKs best R&B performers.

This unbelievable story actually took place, with Shola Ama in the lead role. Her singing talents were recognised when she was only 16, and within a couple of years she had released Much Love, her debut album.

The first track of the album to become a single was Shola's version of "You might need somebody", a cover of a Randy Crawford track. I heard this on TOTP and loved it, convincing me to give the album a try.

The album itself quickly became one of my favourites, mainly due to Shola Ama's wonderful voice. This is not my usual sort of music, but I just loved this album from the first time I heard it. It is a very mellow album, perfect for listening to when you just want to relax for a while. Highly recommended, even if you are like me and not a big fan of R&B/soul music in general.
