Leeds five-piece Hadouken! have just released their debut album, Music For An Accelerated Culture. The new-rave quintet, who are named after a fireball throwing attack in the popular video game series Street Fighter, have appeared on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show with their internet phenomenon double a-side "That Boy That Girl/Tuning In", and in January this year two of the band members Djed and presented the show themselves. Their music, which is said to fall under the Asbo-disco genre, is heavily influenced by dance artists The Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers, and tackles issues such as debt, drinking, and youth culture. Hadouken! are a 5 piece band from Leeds whose musical style is sometimes described as 'Grindie', a mix of grime and indie. Bit hard to get your head round till you hear them properly. Their first single release 'That Boy That Girl' was instantly popular and widely acclaimed, and was followed shortly by the release of their album 'Music for an Accelerated Culture' in May 2008. On first listening the album is quite good, in an innovative, edgey sort of way. Something a bit different, as the techno synth and grimey rap lyrics combine in an imaginative sort of way. However, after a couple of listenings, it starts to grind on your ears and most of the songs begin ... Read the complete review

Hadouken! are a reasonably new 5 piece group from Leeds UK. Their first debut album is called 'music for an accelerated culture' which I think is a great name. Its costs roughly £10 (certainly no more) from HMV but is proberly cheaper from stores online. The album features 11 great songs, all totalyl different and with good lyrics and catchy rythems etc. Track Listing: 1.Get smashed gatecrash (one of my favorite songs on the album, sums up most of the uks teenage antics) 2.That boy, that girl (Probably one of their most famous songs, and what bought them up from being nobody to a famous band) 3. Game ... Read the complete review

Rating:
Hadouken! are a 5-Piece band from Leeds, that are in all honesty "love 'em or hate 'em". Their debut album Music For An Accelerated Culture was frankly a huge disappointment for me. They seem to have turned in to one hit wonders after their 2007 release of "That Boy That Girl", which gained massive popularity in the underground and grime scene. Sadly it seems that Hadouken have become formulaic and repetitive. Hadouken! leave you with a blistering headache after listening to 11 tracks of out-of-key synthesizers mixed with bad rapping and raucous shouting. The lyrical content is even more of a disappointment - the first song is called "Get Smashed ... Read the complete review
