Musick To Play In The Dark Vol 2 - Coil

Musick to Play in the Dark has always been considered as one of Coil's best album, and as with all their previous work pigeon holing a genre can prove to be ambiguous to say the least. On the whole I would disagree with those who say that it's an ambient album, simply because it isn't. Instead we have electronic and incidental qualities which combine to create an unusual album which is certainly impressive. It's certainly a touch too industrial to be considered ambient any rate but each to his own. Coil is the band formed by Ex Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV members Peter Christopherson and John Balance and Music to Play in the Dark 2, is there latest journey into the esoteric and arcane world of magick and music. As the title suggests the album is music for night listening or in particular those finally minutes before sleep.
