Pyrotechnics, German words, big loud guitars. It could only mean one band - the mighty Rammstein. THE BAND Rammstein formed in 1993 in East Germany. They took their name from the location of a German air disaster. They are usually pigeon-holed as industrial but there is rock, metal, electro stuff all in there and its rounded off with a punk attitude. They sing in German too, but don't let that put you off. Rammstein are :- Till Lindemann - Vocals Richard Krupse-Berstein - Guitars Paul Landers - Guitar Oliver Riedel - Bass Christophe 'Doom' Schneider - Drums Christian 'Flake' Lorenz - ... I was first introduced to Rammstein when I bought the superb soundtrack to David Lynch's paranoid film noir mystery "Lost Highway" (1997). There are two Rammstein songs contained on the "Lost Highway" soundtrack and at first I was laughing because I was used to songs in the English language and Rammstein are from Germany and sing in their own language. After a while I stopped laughing and started rocking. Rammstein produce some cool industrial metal and though not a big fan of heavy music, these guys are awesome. A few years past and last Christmas I bought Rammstein's "Mutter" album. Mutter is German for mother. It cost me £17 ... Read the complete review

You may have heard of Rammstein. The heavy German industrial rockers have a good name for themselves outside their native country. With three albums aside from Mutter to their name they are not new kids on the block. So with my limited German knowledge (I can say “Where is my monkey? In the Church / Cooker?”), and an afternoon to spare, I picked up the “Mutter” CD. Combining a classical music / orchestral sound with heavy industrial rock riffage, synthesiser-driven breaks, and choral samples Rammstein provides a viable alternative to the rap-rock scene that currently dominates the “alternative” charts. Most likely you have ... Read the complete review

Nothing like a bit of controversy is there? Well Rammstein have caused a great deal within their musical journey. Accused of being Nazis (which the band has always denied), staging shows full of stimulated sex and pyrotechnics and selling a neat 4 million albums in the good ol’ USA . Not bad for a band that sings in German and produce music that makes that other so called heavy bands sound like a fart lost in a hurricane. So after the triumph of the kinky sex ridden Sehnsucht (Hunger) the German Industrial ubermensch decide to release a concept album based around the Oedipus complex called Mutter (Mother) and no this doesn’t mean Rammstein have ... Ah good old rammstein, where do you even start with these guys, seriously? They manage to uphold this mystery, which is one of the many things i admire about them. Famous for their thundering guitar riffs and aggressive industrial sound, live shows full of pyrotechnics, rowing dinghies across their audiences heads and simulated sex, they make no secret of their kinkier side - best known by the infamous video for 'Sonne' which involved a dominatrix version of snow white, their name taken from the location of a german air disaster and with many rumours and accusations that they are neo-nazi - which of course are denied, this band are hardly shrinking ...
