Advantages: Strong songs, great voice

Disadvantages: Might not be to everyone's taste

So here it is, Kelly Clarkson's third album. The first thing I thought on buying this album was actually, "What a beautiful dress! I wish I had one!" The album cover is very gothic with Kelly in a dramatic red ballgown in front of a sweeping staircase with weeds growing about the balustrades.

My first impression of this album was that it was not immediately as catchy as Breakaway. However, I've been listening to it for a while now and I've really grown to love it: in fact, I'd go as far as saying it's her best album yet. It's a very rock-based album and may not be to everyone's taste: however if you do like rock music I'd recommend you give this a try!

Track Listing

1. Never Again - The first single from this album. Very angsty and bitchy. Brilliant!
2. One Minute - An uptempo, song, a bit less angry than the last.
3. Hole - Another hardcore rocky song.
4. Sober - One of my favourite songs on the album, I don't understand why some of the other reviewers don't seem to like it, it's slower but very powerful.
5. Don't Waste Your Time - Probably sounds more like 'Breakaway' than any other.
6. Judas - Angry song about someone letting you down - has those religious references you find a lot with American rock music.
7. Haunted - This song has a definite Evanescence feel, brilliant!
8. Be Still - Probably my least favourite song on the album, quite slow and quiet.
9. Maybe - Starts off quite slow and a bit dull, but builds into a really strong song.
10. How I Feel - Another song that sounds like it could have come from 'Breakaway', with some very empathetic lyrics!
11. Yeah - A memorable song with a strong beat.
12. Can I Have A Kiss - Another of my favourite songs on the album.
13. Irvine - A quieter, acoustic song, very sad and thoughtful.
14. Bonus track: Chivas - An acoustic bluesy ballad.

Overall, this is a fantastic album. To be honest, if this album had been sung by men, it would have been described as a rock album, not a pop/rock album! If you like pure pop this might not be your favourite album, but if you like it a little bit more hardcore, go for it!

Summary: I really love this album

I think the change from Breakaway shocked and put off a lot of people.

I've got this at home but haven't really listened to it much - maybe I should dig it out x
