My December is the third album from American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, following on from previous CD Breakaway which was a massive global success, so does this offering continue in the same vain?

The album features the singles "Sober" and "Never Again" which perfectly describe the general sound of this album. Whereas her past two efforts have been pop based which Kelly does really well, this album moves into the rock domain. In my opinion, I just don't think this works & doesn't make the songs on offer very accessible.

In general, the lyrcis just don't sound that great and there doesn't seem to be much mood or feeling in the record. I'm not saying that this album is terrible, I would just say it's very average compared to what else is out there & will probably only appeal to the hardcore Kelly Clarkson fans.

I think Kelly has tried a new direction here to show her versatility and it hasn't quite paid off. You end up with a fairly standard album with nothing memoriable to it. Her first two albums were fabulous, I just hope her next album goes back to the sound of these & doesn't continue on from this effort.
