I paid just £1.97 for this album off Amazon.co.uk, which I thought was a bargain!
The album contains the single "Never Again" which was perhaps the rockiest single that Kelly has ever released. The song is a pop/ rock number featuring interesting lyrics from Kelly and vocals full of emotion and angst. I loved this single and I bought the album purely based on it. I am pleased to say that the rest of the album follows the same path as "Never Again", which is a path full of powerful meaningful songs. The songs don't all sound the same, even if they do follow a similar route. The album is a mix of both upbeat rocky numbers and slower songs that tug at the heartstrings. The album fully showcases the amazing vocals of Kelly and it shows how versatile she is as an artist. Kelly co wrote songs on the album and based them on her own life experiences. This probably explains the reason as to why Kelly put her heart and soul into the album itself. The rocky numbers sound great with amazing guitar riffs and the slower songs are ballads that Evanescence would be afraid of.
The album is great for when you're coming out of a relationship and you really want to let your anger show. This is what Kelly has focused on here and she's done it really well. Kelly has really focused on heartbreak here without it sounding predictible.
The album is VERY different to the previous albums that Kelly has released but she's done well here.
Definitely worth a listen.
Summary: If you like Evanescence...
