Advantages: loads of songs

Disadvantages: lack of French ones

Spending some quality time with a Celine Dion album is something I like to do at weekends. The week is over and her music is instantly soothing and relaxing. This album gathers some of her biggest love songs...though surely every song she has ever released is a love song?!

The obvious choice is 'My Heart Will Go On' which is anthemic, sickly and downright annoying as she belts it out as if there is no tomorrow. The song has suffered from being overexposed, but the melody remains pleasing ands manages to make you go all googly.

'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' is an epic event, with a million verses and a barnstorming climax in which Celine really pushes her vocal boundaries. It is one to play when you need a boost. I also enjoy 'A New Day Has Come' which is more refined, verging on the wispy. The melody is breezy and light and the song is bright and has positive inspiring lyrics.

Less impressive is 'Taking Chances' which sees her shouting out the chorus like some old crow delivering a weather warning. Not a good tune and some unpleasant notes in here. Better is the dreamy 'Falling Into You' with glorious backing vocals and the sense that it is floating away on a tide of passion.

The second disc continues the trend of romance, as she gets frisky with R.Kelly on 'Im You're Angel.' The song is way too laborious and pompous, but both singers do a good job. Head to 'Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore' which is an effortless and sexy track, Celine sounds so sensual on this one it makes you want to hug her up close.

She toys with dance on 'Misled' coming across as a vixen, the song has dated badly, but it adds some variety to the CD. By the time you hit 'Call The Man', which is a ploy on her part to lure all unsuspecting gentlemen through her open window, you will be positively chilled.

There are 36 songs on here, a very strong collection with all the relevent tracks that you could possibly want from her English catalogue.

Summary: pleasing
