We all know who Frank Sinatra was, presumably. Probably the greatest and certainly the most popular crooner of all time. From the 40s to the 70s he was consistently successful, enjoying probably his greatest popularity in the late 50s, the Ratpack era. His work is easy listening and proud of it as he croons away in his laid back fashion. Obviously some people will see his music as too old-fashioned to bother with, but that's their loss, really. I think he's fantastic and have done for years. He's one of the old school pop musicians who didn't write their own material. This is fine by me, although some people insist on believing that people have ... Read the complete review

My Way - The Best of Frank Frank Sinatra (2002) Old Blue Eyes died in 1998, and of course, after his death there have been numerous 'best of', 'very best of' and 'ultimate' albums. This particular, 2 disc CD, to me rates as one of the best offerings, for three reasons: Firstly, yep, the classic hits are there as you would expect, but (secondly)also a couple of his better songs that were not quite so big are included. Finally, for a fiver (Amazon), you get 46 songs, that to me is superb value. We start of with a very classy rendition of 'My way'. To me, as he got on in years he tended to slur this song ... Things don't change do they? I was about 6, my Dad was waxing lyrical about Frank Sinatra "Frank's the man, you know." Looking at the dog eared cover of his 33rpm vinyl. "Yeah, Yeah, whatever " I would think (or words to thay effect mid seventies speak...)If it wasn't Frank it was Elvis, if it wasn't Elvis it was Ella. So here I am 30 years later telling my 8 year old that "Frank is the man, you know" "Yeah right Mum.." he patronises. My Dad passed away 6 years ago,I inherited his beloved, well used record collection (not a CD in sight) it was Frank, Elvis, Frank, Ella, oh and a bit of ... Read the complete review

"My Way - The Best Of Frank Sinatra" is a really brilliant album. I have only recently been introduced to it but I really love it! As there are so many tracks, I won't go through them one by one (and also I haven't listened to them all, I only heard it for the first time on Monday!). Anyway, the first track is the infamous "My Way". Everybody knows it. Everybody loves it. It's a great way to start the album as it certainly is the best of Sinatra. Skipping "Strangers in the night", track three is the theme from "New York New York", my favourite track. This is one of the best pieces of music I've ever ... Read the complete review
