Behind The Mask - Fleetwood Mac

Premium Review Fleetwood Mac - Behind The Mask (394 words)

Rating:

Just over ten years ago Fleetwood Mac released their first post-Lindsey Buckingham album. He had left the group almost three years before, after the hugely successful Tango in the Night album. Critics and fans alike wondered if the band would be any good without their resident genius, the results were definately mixed. Buckingham was replaced by two singer/guitarists: Billy Burnette (who had been recording albums since he was a child, as well as being Johnny Burnette's nephew and Dorsey Burnette's son) and Rick Vito (a session player who had worked with the likes of Bob Seger and Bonnie Raitt). They had some pretty big shoes to fill and though they ...

Future Games - Fleetwood Mac

Crowned Review Four Hippies And A Penguin... (1509 words)

Rating:

time in writing and recording a new album. Since brushing off any acknowledgeable Peter Green quality, what we find in this album, ‘Future Games‘, is the foundations of the Fleetwood Mac we knew as one of the greatest international bands of the 20th Century. After the raw, bluesy feel to the previous, Kiln House, it seemed that the addition of a soft, female voice, melted the minds of these scruffy, beer drinking musicians. Their work stands out on this album as creative and gently inspiring. The general outlook of this album is melodic and serene due to it’s two newest members yet, unfortunately it lacks the harsh rock and roll element of the original line up, ...

Greatest Hits - Fleetwood Mac

Premium Review Oh Well (742 words)

For those in the know Fleetwood Mac has had numerous forms the most successful of which was the Rumours period AOR super-stardom featuring Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. This op has nothing to do with them. This greatest hits package is dedicated to the 1st incarnation of the Mac. They were one of the prime movers in the British Blues boom at the end of the 60’s and featured drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie the only constants in all the Mac’s line ups plus 3 lead guitarists – Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer. Peter Green was undoubtedly the star, with his fluid guitar style that varied from very ...
