“ Artist: Louise Nurding / Release Date: 1996 / Genre: Pop & Rock „
I remember this woman. She used to be in Eternal. Then left due to 'musical differences.' Pah. I think we know why she didn't stay, but I shall refrain from typing it into this review incase I am had up for slander!
Who is she:
Louise Nurding, now Louise Redknapp. She is a singer, but has been quiet of late, focusing on her family instead.
The title track 'Naked' is her trying to be raunchy with lyrics like 'undressing me with your eyes.' It doesn't wash for me. Her vocals are too uninspired and lack the saucy nature they crave. I would have liked more breathy vocals and some gaspy bits to really sell the song.
'Light Of My Life' is a sufficient ballad, with tender vocals from Louise. The tune is stronger than her voice and the soulful melody helps this one along.
'Undivided Love' is about as upbeat as it gets. Lively rhythm and some great uplitfing backing vocals. The backing vocals overshadow Louise. Her vocals come across too processed and lack the edge the song needs.
Type of music:
A mix of pop grooves and ballads. It is all very safe and bland and dispensable. There are 14 songs on here, none of which create much of an impact. I liken her to Victoria Beckham. She can sort of sing, but just is not that interesting on her own.
Eternal. Better as a four piece, better songs too.
Louise frist shot to fame in the biggest UK girlband at the time that went by the name of Eternal. They had many hits including "Just a Step From Heaven" and "Save Our Love". She decided to part ways in about 1995 and began her solo career. Her first single, "Light of my Life" went into the top 5 and was a great emotion-filled track. Follow-ups to the debut single included "In Walked Love" "Undivided Love" "One Kiss From Heaven" and of course the huge hit of which this album is named after "Naked" this was a great funky little number. As well as these hits, her album is crammed with other great sing along tracks such as "Discussions" "Goodbye To Love" and a great feel good track "The Best That You Bring" this album has never bored me even though it is about 5 years old now! and although the music scene has changed some-what, there still is room for a bit of Louise! If you like feel good tunes along with emotional ones as well, then this one is for you! p.s If you are instrested in getting this CD, then you can currently purchase this from amazon.co.uk for the low price of £7.99 (this does not include the P&P though)
