'Lay Lady Lay' is the most well known track here, although a re-worked 'Girl From the North Country', performed as a duet with Johnny Cash, proves equally worthwhile. Clocking in at just 27 minutes, it's Dylan's shortest album, but the tracks contained within are good enough to keep you coming back, a delightful, left field album wh...more

Premium Review Nashville Skyline - Bob Dylan: Great Record (162 words)
by - written on 14/06/09 (Very useful, 3 readings)
Rating:

A dramatic departure from previous releases, with Dylan going all out country, having sewn the seeds on 'John Wesley Harding', this was a moment where Dylan turned his back, not for the first time, on the establishment which had embraced him, and re-defined himself again. His voice is disarmingly different throughout, apparently due to his giving up of cigarettes, as he performs in a smooth croon throughout, much different to the rasping delivery found on his earlier work. by - written on 19/04/03 (Useful, 97 readings)
Rating:

Adammico, why the brevity of this review? It is only intended for fans (at least of casual nature) of Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan as an artist can only be experienced and is too complex to explain in 500 words or so. Okay Okay 1st, you need to get past Bob Dylan singing with his nostrils. On this album, Johnny Cash works with Bob Dylan (almost as a duo) and they?re distinctive styles are not in sync (at all). Yes, it is somewhat country. Finally, it?s completely ramshackle. The songs Girl From North Country is a country version of an early Bob Dylan recording with Johnny and Bob singing there own versions that almost clash, but ...  Read the complete review
