Look, its been five years now since Max Cavalera quit the Sepultura fold so let's not dwell on the past but instead concentrate on the musical bombshell that Sepultura Mark 2 have just let off.

You see Derrick Green and Co. have delivered the album they always promised they would after the 'Max Saga' - and some. Okay, '98's 'Against' - despite its moments - wasn't consistently good, but with 'Nation', Sepultura have unleashed a bastard heavy album that spits venom, pulverises and crushes your bollocks - hard. 'Nation' is an album that has attitude stamped all over it.

It is an album that gives the middle finger to all the non-believers, the back stabbers and proves there's plenty of life left still in the Seps camp. Derrick Green has a fucking good pair of lungs on him and behind him Mssers Cavalera, Kisser and Jr. have kept evolving the Sepultura trademark sound to great effect. Thankfully resisting the commercial temptation of attempting to Jump on the nu-metal, running on empty, bandwagon, 'Nation' is distinctly Sepultura -only sounding the best they ever have.

From the opening united calling of 'Sepulnation' to the orchestra-led instrumental closer of 'Valtio' (Portuguese for "union"), 'Nation' demands your constant attention. It's got the familiar tribal trademark ('Uma Cura', 'Tribe To A Nation'), the metal ('Border Wars', 'Vox Pupuli') and then there're the notable hardcore elements also. With 'Human Cause' and 'Revolt', both clocking in at less than a minute and the former featuring Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta - Derrick Green's hardcore influence brings fresh life into the band's sound. And then there's Jello Biafra's appearance on 'Politricks' and dub-reggae legend Dr Israel's phat sounds on 'Tribe To A Nation', just to put the icing on the
cake.

There's just no denying it, 'Nation', is f**king great heavy metal and you'd be a fool not to buy it.
