... send me back to the nineties, to my teenage years. There are songs that remind me of being 10 or 11, such as Beats International with Dub be Good To Me, and some that remind me of starting University, such as Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart and Savage Garden's To The Moon and Back. And there are many in between. I wouldn't say that any of the tracks on this disc are undeserving of a place in a Best of the 90s' CD, and as with many compilations, a lot of whether you agree is going to be completely down to personal taste...more

Premium Review Never Forget: The Very Best Of The 90s: Taking me back to my teen years.........(sighs) (484 words)

It seems that compilation CDs are coming out of my ears at the moment, and it is worrying when you look at them how many actually have crossover songs. I must have loads of compilation CDs containing the same songs, but I guess the appeal is the combination of the songs you get within them. This particular compilation, Never Forget: The Very Best Of The 90s, has a number of songs that I do not have on another format, which perhaps sparks a certain appeal. The first disc starts off with the track that has no doubt given the compilation its title: Take That's Never Forget. It is a great track, and is followed by the hit Dreams from Gabrielle. Then come a string ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review 90's madness (278 words)

The album is called 'Never Forget The 90's', it is not a decade that I could easily forget, with bright fashions and some sterling pop records. This album collects some of the more memorable songs from that period. Highlights: Spread over two discs, head for Take That's 'Never Forget' which is a powerful and anthemic number with great vocals from Gary Barlow. It was sort of their swansong before they finished and brings back some fond memories. I am dubious at the inclusion of Lifted' by The Lighthouse Family. This is soulful and mellow, but let's face it is also rather insipid, a song I would rather forget and leave rotting in the ...  Read the complete review

I first saw this CD advertised on the television in the summer of 2004 and thought that it was one of those CDs which would pass me by. However when I took it into the café that I worked in, it surprisingly became very popular not just with the staff but also with the customers. This is a long review! It's a simple 2 CD glass pack similar to other compilations of the genre and there are twenty songs on each CD. This album is actually released by Century FM Network which is a Northern English radio station - if I hadn't had read the inlay cover I would never have known as I don't think you can get this station on Scotland's radio waves. The main inspiration for ...  Read the complete review
