Dance bod-about-town Mark Pember has done the expected and gathered himself a collective of like-minded musicians for the purposes of recording some real music. BUT! be glad he did, for this isn't the soulless noodling that such an enterprise often brings. Organ are authentic, drums more played than programmed, but we never venture into the 'worthy muso' trap. Avenue A draw from a pool of three utterly different vocalists. Imogen Andrews, whose opening 'Pick Up the Pieces' is a smooth and smoky treat. Holly Golightly who brings a trashy garage rock feel to numbers like 'Nothing You Can Say'.
