Advantages: Great songs, Longevity
Disadvantages: Band now no longer
Back in 1991, I was 15 and into all sorts of chart music. You know the kind, cheesy dance music. I never really had any favourite band. That was until a friend told me to listen to his copy of Nevermind by Nirvana. I was instantly hooked. The music was like nothing I'd ever listened to before. This wasn't dance music. It was called 'Grunge'. A sort of punk heavy rock. Don't mistake this with heavy metal. While some of the songs are hard and quite fast I wouldn't describe them as heavy metal. I couldn't put it down after that. I listened to it on the way to school, during my paper round and at home. Nirvana became the ultimate band to be a fan of at school. Everyone had a copy of Nevermind. I went on to buy every single and album ever released by Nirvana, and I'd recommend them to anyone. I wouldn't say they'd be everyone's cup of tea but give it a go, you've got nothing to lose. Nirvana, though no longer together following lead singer Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, remain one of the worlds biggest selling bands. Dave Grohl, drummer with Nirvana is now the front man behind the band the Foo Fighters, worth a listen too. I love all the songs on this album, there's no fillers here, but my favourites are: Drain You Come As You Are Lounge Act Tracks are: Smells Like Teen Spirit In Bloom Come As You Are Breed Lithium Polly Territorial Pis**ngs Drain You Lounge Act On A Plain Stay Away Something In The Way Great album.

- 02/07/02 I tend to agree with ben below there. If you add the details, it would be very helpful to people who are undecided. |

- 02/07/02 It's nice to know how much you like the album, but a bit more description would be useful for people who don't know what it sounds like (a track listing's not all that helpful)
