When you think of the words "News of the World" the thing that would spring to mind would be a tacky newspaper but believe it or not its also an album by Queen. It contains some of their most famous of the bands songs like We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions which are also two of Queens favourite live songs. News of The World also has some lesser known songs but they are just as good, if not better. It was Queen's 6th album and it is obvious that musical techniques used on previous albums but News of the World is more of a rock album than some of their other material. We are used to a more experimental side form Queen but that isn't evident ... Read the complete review

News of the World is an album by the band Queen. It was released in 1977 and is the sixth album by band. I was one of the best selling Queen albums in the United States and also sold well around the world. It was the album that will be remembered for bringing you the 2 unforgettable hits "We Will Rock You" & "We Are the Champions". After the criticism (boring) Queen received following the album A Day at the Races, Queen shift their musical focus towards the mainstream and set out once again to make a unforgettable and hit making album. The album was recorded in 2 months at Basing Street Studios in Wessex, London. At ... Read the complete review

In 1973 Queen were virtually unknown, by 1977 they were one of the worlds biggest bands. They had toured extensively and released five albums. Something had to give eventually and unfortunately it shows in “News of the world”. Queen are so good that even a sub-standard offering is worth listening to and this is by no means their worst album (that honour goes to Jazz). It’s just that “News of the World” is comparatively poor. The best tracks are at the beginning, the combination of the anthems “We will rock you” and “We are the champions” is excellent. These are followed by “Sheer Heart ... Read the complete review

Just when you think Queen are producing the best music of their career they released this heap of trash. I am sad to say that this is one of Queen's much poorer albums. It starts off with two songs from the Greatest Hits, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" these songs are quite good when comparing them to the rest of the album. "We Will Rock You" is a well established Queen song that was played live at many of their concert. It has a good guitar solo in the middle of it as well. "We are the Champions" is also very famous, played at many sports events when the team have won the game. This song has some good ... Read the complete review

Classic experimental death metal album, and At the Gates' best.
Some progressive touches aren't as well incorporated as they would like to be.

Innovative, jazzy 80s death metal.

Fine early death metal.
Repetitive and derivative.
