... only good thing about it is that The Neptunes are on-point with the beats. **Two Stars** 4. "Got Your Money" This was the track to really launch ODb as a solo artist, and with The Neptunes taking over, and having them bring in Kelis for the hook, they do a tune which uses the percussion of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" to do a tune which allows Ol' Dirt McGirt to do what he is known for, but with a much more organised structure under the control of Chad and Pharrell. **Five Stars** 5....more

Premium Review Nigga Please - Ol' Dirty Bastard: I'm Rick James Bia***tch!!! (1156 words)

Rating:

"N***a Please" came out in 199, and was the second album by the Ol' Dirty B*****d (ODB) of the Wu-Tang Clan. The rapper died in 2004 of an accidental drug overdose, and was known as the most eccentric of the crew and was frequently in and out of prison. This album, as most associated with the Wu-Tang Clan, features production from The RZA, as well as others. 1. "Recognize" To start things off, we have him kick a banger of a tune as he is initially introduced by Chris Rock before you hear the characteristics sounds of The Neptunes' production, Chad Hugo and Pharrell make another beat to go along with the many hits which they made ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ODB Returns... (296 words)

Rating:

Ol' Dirty Bastard comes back with his second offering and we are again dealt a second dose of his trademark brand of hip hop. I am a die hard Wu-Tang Clan fan, and happen to like Ol' Dirty, but again, it's a sort of acquired taste, especially goin by his first album. His sophomore release, 'Ni**a Please' illustrates Dirty's eclectic style to a "T". The opening track, with a bit by comedian Chris Rock, is a fitting beginning to the disc, the two fit together all too well. Most people know the hit single from the album, 'Gotcha Money', but haven't really listened to much else on the album. Even though the album only ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nigga Please - Ol' Dirty Bastard: There's a Riot Goin' On (866 words)
by - written on 23/04/02 (Very useful, 46 readings)
Rating:

As I'm sure you already know, ODB is the coolest person to have ever existed. I won't give you a long list of the felonies that he committed in order to qualify for this position, but let's bear in mind that this man, whilst being hunted down by the police, jumped up on stage to perform with the Wu-tang Clan, and then fled into the night (and subsequently was caught when an undecover policeman asked him for an autograph...DOH!!!). 'N@gga Please' is the ultimate manifestation of this genius/madman's personality. Like other f#cked-up on drugs, crime and filthy sex masterpieces, such as Sly Stone's 'There's a Riot Going On', ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ODB is back with no style (100 words)
by - written on 02/12/00 (Somewhat useful, 40 readings)
Rating:

Personally, when i bought this album i was expecting material that would be up to the standered of the wu-tang clan. I was however disappointed at ODB'S effort. This aclaimed rapper can do so much better than this atempt. The production is relativly good and the beats are huge but to make it a good album it needs more than this, in needs flare which it seems to have none. Chris rock makes a fool of himself as usall at the start of the album. Only buy this if you are a hardcore fan of ODB and big beats. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nigga Please - Ol' Dirty Bastard: Rich Bitchin' Jailbird B@^&*rd... (148 words)
by - written on 13/07/00 (Somewhat useful, 13 readings)
Rating:

The Neptunes are the damn fine production team behind Kelis' recent hits, and it's good to hear them get to work with a Wu Tang member - who mostly seem to have better rhymes than music. ODB rants frantically here, though this is one of the less twisted offerings on his current album, 'N***a Please'. A blubbery bassline and a chunky Kit-Kat of a beat kick mightily behind ODB's screwy yelp. But it's Kelis' slinky contribution that makes this one of the great hip-hop singles of the year - even taking into account releases from Dre and Eminem, and the storming comeback from De La Soul. The B-side is a great (and UK-sounding) breakbeat ...  Read the complete review
