Scene: A car, peopled with five long haired American friends Sound: Bohemian Rhapsody Event: Wayne's World Result: Headbanging heaven It was with their fourth album that Queen really showed themselves to be a massive force in music. Their debut had been a disappointment, 'Queen II' had shown potential, 'Sheer Heart Attack' made a concerted fist of things, but it was with 'A Night At The Opera' in 1975 that the four piece really put down their marker. It was an epic achievement and it was months in the making. They started work on songs in June 1975 and started recording in August, eventually spending three ... Read the complete review

A night at The Opera has to be one of the most musically complex albums ever written. It summed up by one of its tracks which is possibly the best ever written: Boheimian Rhapsody and its for this track that the album will be remembered. It important to mention that A Night at The Opera was released during the bands early days as their fourth album. This was when they were at there early peak and they were writing some of their most memorable material which was more rock orientated than later releases. In my opinion this album doesn't have a lot of classics but it does have its fair share of reasonably good songs. The most well known of all of the albums ... Read the complete review

Queen - "A Night At The Opera" - released 1974 . This op is based upon the remastered CD version of "A Night At The Opera" , and as a result , sleeve notes may be different to those of the original album. This has to be one of the most , if not the MOST revered Queen albums of all time. Queen's 4th studio album ( the previous being : Queen1 , Queen 2 and Sheer Heart Attack ) , and my favourite of all their albums . So what do you get for your money ? Well approx 45 minutes of Queen genius , and a total of twelve songs , that encompass rock at its very best , through to a ballad and even a bit of joviality , not to ... Read the complete review

Well, its definately one of them. After getting this album last christmas I couldnt stop playing it for ages. As you might have guessed by the fact i only got the album last year, Im quite a young Queen fan. Being brought up on Queen its hard not to love them. Mind you, its hard not to love Queen anyway. This album has to have been one of their most complex pieces of work containing the masterpieces that are "bohemian Rhapsody", "The Prophet's Song" and "Death On Two Legs". This album has been argued to be their best album and it is easy to see why so many believe that. The album opens with the amazing ... Read the complete review

This was the first “proper” LP that I ever owned, (“Top Of The Pops” LPs don’t count). It was a Christmas present from my parents and started me off on my long journey of musical purchases. At the time, and still today to a certain extent, the LP defied categorisation, it incorporated rock & opera, humour & absurdity, bile & sensitivity. The best known song is of course Bohemian Rhapsody with all its musical influences but the LP contains many outstanding tracks – Death On Two Legs – A track which takes no prisoners and rips its subject apart Seaside Rendezvous – A “throw ... Mostly excellent death metal in the classic style.

Relaxing and eclectic ambience.
Only suited for relaxation or background music, otherwise soon becomes repetitive and dull.

Something for Steve Vai completists.
Pointlessly below average hair metal.

Classic heavy metal.
Endless, tedious comparisons to other bands are inevitable.

Approachable and entertaining neoclassical music.
Too much reliance on obvious cover songs.
