Some people, especially Keane s longstanding fans, feel that Spiralling is a mess of a track, with none of the classic Keane beauty or sensitivity. Others see it as an excellent change in direction. Under the Iron Sea is K Keane s follow-up album to their well received 2004 debut album, Hopes & Fears and whilst it is unmistakably Keane, at the same time it sounds different. The album sounds bigger and somewhat braver than their previous offering - but bigger doesn t always mean better... I d class myself as Keane fan, I enjoyed their first album and I ve seen them live twice, but after a week of listening to Under the Iron Sea , for me at least, there are just not as many high points as on Hopes & Fears . Track 11, the curiously titled, Frog Prince and Track 5 ‘A Bad Dream’ are as close to the ‘typical’ Keane sound as the album gets, and are both good ...
