Advantages: some great covers

Disadvantages: some bad covers

When I first got this I was a little iffy, Nothing can compare to the original Nightmare before christmas music. But anyway I played it and I was UBERLY impressed, Marilyn Manson did Is This Halloween? and I dont normally like his music but this was brilliant!
Overture ***
DeVotchKa
This is basically What's this instrumental without the guitars and drums I don't know what they call the instrument but they play it with both hands and pull and push it whilst pressing buttons to create the sound(I never can quite figure out the name) Any way it is a good track but compared to all the Rock on this CD it just doesn't mount up to it all.

Opening *
Danny Elfman
The original opening with the Narrative in it, I don't actually listen to this Its just really boring.
Is This Halloween ***** R
Marilyn Manson
The best thing Marilyn Manson has ever done! His voice is brilliant in this and I love listening to this song. I love the way they got the tune on the guitar and gave it a metal feeling to it.

Jack's Lament ****
All American Rejects
This is an excellent peice of work by this band some of the best they have done, The vocals are brilliant and haven't changed much in my oppinion, This track is great but not my favourite off the track.
Doctor Finkelstein/ In The Forces***
Amiina
This is just an instrumental but it has a creepyness too it, It is meant to as it is from a spooky type film.

What's This ***
Flyleaf
Yeah this is good and yeah I like it but it is a little slow and I heard Fall Out Boy's Version on youtube and it sounded a hell of alot better so I don't see why they didn't get them to do it. This is a little depressing sounding for this song and it doesnt sound right but it is good in it's on little way.
Town Meeting Song**
The Polyphonic Spree
Starting off with an un-natural sound it gradually builds up to the guitar and it has a heavyness to it which I think is great, But i do prefer the original of this song.

Jack And Sally Montage****
Vitamin String Quartet
This is just an instrumental but it is brilliant and I actually listen to it quite a bit, It has the type of sound where you know some-one/thing is creeping around the way it slows down and then picks up again an gradually cresendos(Gets louder)
Jack's Obsession*
Sparklehorse
This band have ruined this song completely! Most of the bands kept the sound and rhythm of the vocals but this doesn't really go at all.

Kidnap The Sandy Claws***** R
KoRn
I am a fan of this bands work and when I noticed they did a track on this I was ecstatic, They have done this brilliantly it has the metal feeling to it with the KoRn touch, Honestly even if you don't like NBC music and like KoRn's stuff you would love this
Making Christmas***** R
Rise Against
I like some of this bands stuff and this is one of the greatest things they have done, I love the way they did the rhythm on the guitar and drums it is brilliant, totally worth listening to and putting on your Ipod phone or whatever

Nabbed **
Yoshida Brothers
A 7 minute instrumental? not me at all but The bass line is quite funky other than that I wouldn't know i havent listened to the whole track, Its too long of an instrumental for me.
Oogie Boogie's Song***
Rodrigo y Gabriella
This is an instrumental of Oogie Boogies song and is done really well in my oppinion and It is great to listen to, Great spanish guitar in there.

Sally's Song *****R
Amy Lee (Evanescence)
Amy Lee has a brilliant voice, those who listen to Evanescence will know thatand I think she sings this song beautifully and I don't think they could have found anybody better to cover it.
Christmas Eve Montage**
RJD2
This is quite a funky one and not my favourite at all, You get all these rock covers then this, this sounds wuite chavy and I a, really not into that type of music. There is though a good little riff at the end..which was unexpected

Poor Jack *****R
Plain White T's
Not a great fan of this band but they did cover this song quite nicely to be honest, It really suits the voices.
To The Rescue***
Datarock
This one sounds chavy at the start but suprisingly quite catchy another slight instrumental of several NBC songs and a good one at that!

Finale Reprise***
Shuny Toy Guns]
This is a brilliant cover it has a heavy metal sound to it and is verrry catchy I can't get enough of this one.
Closing*
Danny Elfman
Another Boring one not going to bother with this.

End Title*
The Album Leaf
Slow and boring not my type. too classical at the start for me.
Oogie Boogie's Song *****R
Tiger Army
This one is sung and is quite funny, the vocals are a little bit more high pitched to the original and that kind of makes me laugh, But other than that is a great cover

Summary: this is a great album but a few bands really ruin the songs
