Advantages: An excellent album from Bad Religion, includes some of the bands best work to date.
Disadvantages: If you don't like fast and furious punk rock anthems you certainly won't like this.
Released in 1989, 'No Control' is the fourth studio album from the popular American punk rock band that is Bad Religion. The album was released through Epitaph Records and comes complete with fifteen tracks comprising of a total length of 26 minutes and 25 seconds. Almost every track here clocks in at under the two minute mark; the music is fast, frantic punk rock fun and I personally wouldn't have it any other way.
'Change of Ideas' gives the album a powerful opening track; it's only 55 seconds in length but very well put across by the band here. The bands vocalist Gregg Graffin here chants 'So many theories, so many prophecies, what we do need is a change of ideas'. This spoken line is incredibly hard hitting, instrumentally the sound is kept supremely simple and this lyrical line runs through the very heart of the music. The guitar sound compliments the vocal performance incredibly well here; the track is short, sharp and incredibly effective.
Clocking in at 2 minutes and 44 seconds in length, 'Sanity' is the longest track on this album and also is one of my absolute favourite Bad Religion songs of all time. So many times I have listened to this track over the years, never do I tire of hearing it and always in fact I enjoy hearing it very much. This comes straight after 'I Want to Conquer the World' on this album which is another of my favourites from the 'No Control' release. From start to finish this album is excellent and not once does the music of Bad Religion disappoint here.
Title track 'No Control' is another from this album that is of great appeal to myself, just like every other track on the album the track is fast, the music is kept simple, and an excellent punk rock song has therefore here been created. 'You' is one of the better known tracks from this album, it was used in the video game 'Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2' which was released in the year 2000 and is definitely yet another key moment in this 15 track album release. The music is highly powerful and what I love most about the sound created here is that it is incredibly well put across and always the sound created here is fresh, energetic, and with an excellent hard hitting punk rock nature also.
If you like punk rock music then you'll love Bad Religion's 'No Control', it's probably the best album that the band has ever released and certainly one that is well worth owning in your personal music collection. There is only 26 minutes of music present on this album; the tracks are all short blasts of punk rock fury and always the sound created is incredibly strong. This was one of the first Bad Religion albums I ever heard many years ago and is still one that I continue to listen to right to this day; it's an excellent album and one that I personally would definitely recommend listening to.
Summary: 'No Control' is an exceptional album release from Bad Religion; well worth owning.
