I have been a fan of Blondie for years, when I heard they were to re-form and record together again i was thrilled... i saw them play in Manchester before the release of the album and Debbie/Deborah has lost none of her sexy sassy attitude (although she may have gained a few pounds) she looked and sounded better than ever. possibly her stint in the group "the jazz passangers" helped her strengthen her range. In general the album is great, there are a couple of songs that sound slightly dated, sounding almost like some of Harrys solo 80's tracks, there are also some great standout tracks mainly "Screaming Skin": written by Stein about ...

When Maria went into the charts I rushed out to buy No exit on the day that it was issued - dissapointment. I grew up with Debbie Harry and have all the old classics like Picture This, Hanging on the Telephone on Vinyl. Maybe I expected to much for them to come up with an album like Parrallel lines but Maria was most certainly in the same vein. Twenty years after first assaulting the charts, Blondie returned in fine form in 1999 with the album No Exit. The comforting thing about this CD is that most of the songs are reminiscent of what the band were doing in their heyday. The first single Maria is as catchy as songs like Heart of Glass and Picture This. Debbie Harry may not have the finest voice in the world but she knows how to belt out a song, and this was a sure-fire hit. Suprisingly, it was the only single to do well off an album containing many gems including the lush Night Wind Sent and the country-tinged The Dream's Lost on Me. If I had to nitpick I would say that the album ...

Memoria Vetusta - Blut Aus Nord
Epic black metal done well, with great performances all-round.
No particular track stands out.
Island Fire - Solabeat Alliance
Some interesting ska punk music is on display here.
Not as good as the 'Rise On Up' EP, the live energy has not here been caught.
In The Name Of The Father - Altar
Powerful thrash-influenced death metal with feeling. Bitter feeling.
Juvenile and potentially offensive, if you lack the sense of humour to consider that an advantage.

Hip-Hop & Rap - East Coast - 2006
Frances The Mute - The Mars Volta
Intense jazz-rock-metal-prog-fusion, a CD to drink with caution
Will sound like a complete mess on the first listen

Less energetic and more pedestrian performance.

Interesting, well written, different.
Its a grower.
