"The right to appear ridiculous is one that I hold dear", so wails Bono on U2's latest album "No Line on the Horizon". Indeed, and one he would appear to exploit to the full at any given opportunity. Bono, or rather Paul Hewson as I prefer to call him as I feel his alter ego is absurd for a man of his years, is someone I find quite perplexing and really rather irritating. But what I find irritating is that while his pomposity can bore me senseless, at other times I find him quite inspiring and I have never been able to resist a listen to what new material U2 produce. In spite of having "moved on" musically I still consider U2 one of my ... Read the complete review

I now consider myself a U2 fan although before this album was announced I only listened to a handful of their songs, mostly to All That You Can't Leave Behind album. U2's fan base is so huge that you have the feeling that you're left-out if you start discovering only now their tremendous back catalog. I felt the same way but it all changed once they released this pure masterpiece. I suddenly feel that U2is my band also. The longest gap for the bad between two albums served them right, because they came back with some Magnificent songs (pun intended). The lyrics are just mind blowing as usual, Bono probably reached his high-point as a poet and ... Read the complete review

"No Line on the Horizon" is U2's 12th studio album. It comes more than four years after the previous album "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" and the wait has certainly been worthwhile. Before I go onto the album I feel the need to qualify this. U2 are my favourite band and I gave this album a lot of playing based on purely because it was U2. Had this been an album by another artist I may have moved onto something else before I fully appreciated this, with music being so available these days (but that's a different discussion!). Normally with a U2 album there are tracks I immediately love and tend to skip back to. I was a bit ... Read the complete review

Bono and the lads back to form. This album is just outstanding. An absolute credit to the music industry of Ireland and Ireland in general. Songs like Magnificent and Get on Your Boots are proof to those who are ignorant towards U2 to get this album. Magnificent is everything that is missing from the charts these days. Too many generic everyday bands and singers with zero song writing talent around these days, but with U2 you have the old war horse of the music industry still coming up strong in 2009 with an absolute gem of an album. A superb listen, the first time I heard it I was stressed out in University with coursework, this helped take me away from all of that and ... Read the complete review
