Advantages: descent, inspiring lyrics
Disadvantages: weak tracks
I always love listening to the music of Lifehouse. I like their music because I admire the songwriting talent of lead singer Jason Wade. I was able to relate with their music personally.
No Name Face is Lifehouse's debut album released on 2000. This band was formerly called Blyss and started as a Christian alternative rock band that performs mostly in churches. This album contains 14 original tracks written mostly by band leader Jason Wade. Their debut single "Hanging by a Moment" was number one most played song on the radio after it was released.
Lifehouse is Jason Wade on vocals and guitars, Sergio Andrade on bass, and Diff (Jon Palmer) on drums. No Name Face was produced by Ron Aniello and mixed by Brendan O'Brien under Dreamworks Record label.
The Songs
1. Hanging By a Moment
This is their first ever hit song. It's easy to like this song even hearing it for the first time because of the catchy rock rhythm sound.
2. Sick Cycle Carousel
Plain acoustic guitar and melodic vocals on the intro part but it get's heavy on the chorus part. Great song, easy to listen.
3. Unknown
I like the rhythm guitar playing on the intro part. The rest of the song sounded heavy with the lead guitar tune. Good song but it doesn't sound memorable to me.
4. Somebody Else's Song
Strumming electric guitar on the intro part blended with other harmonic string instrument mixture. Great song!
5. Trying
Acoustic guitar intro, mellow tune. I like violin instrument playing on the bridge and end part of the song.
6. Only One
A medium beat song with a very catchy melody. The chorus part is a bit rock style with heavy guitar instrument playing. Relaxing tune.
7. Simon
Soft mellow tune on the intro part as it gets a bit heavy on the chorus part. Good but not memorable.
8. Cling and Clatter
Nice drum beat on the intro as it gets intense tune on the chorus. A medium beat song.
9. Breathing
Slow pace song with a very memorable tune, catchy rhythm. I like this song.
10. Quasimodo
I like the heavy rock sound of electric guitar on the chorus. Good song.
11. Somewhere in Between
Slow beat drum beat on the intro with acoustic guitar accompaniment on some parts of the song. I like this tune, easy on the ears, good vocals.
12. Everything
For me, this is the best song in this album. I like the slow melodic tune of this song with the combination of acoustic guitar, violin instrument and the impressive vocals. The song surprisingly ends up with heavy, hard rocking sound on the bridge part. Very well done song with great lyrics. I really love this song.
13. What's Wrong With That
This is a bit heavy rock piece but with I noticed no memorable tune on it. Not much with this song.
14. Fool
I like the lead guitar and a drum beat combination of this song building up to heavy instrument on the chorus part. This is a memorable song.
Overall, No Name Face is a great album. Even 10 years after this album was released, the songs from this album still sounds brand new to me. The good mixture of pop, rock and ballad genre makes their music memorable and stands out through time. There are few weak tracks in this compilation however, most of the songs that are in here are Lifehouse's timeless pieces. More info on their website: www.lifehousemusic.com
