... depressing. 7/10 4. Zombie - One of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. All about the IRA and the troubles in Northern Ireland. Quite a heavy song in places and contrasted brilliantly with some haunting vocals. Brilliant song that I really do love! 10/10 5. Empty - Slows the pace down again. Another nice song with a really chilled sound to it. 8/10 6. Everything I Said - Another slow one and a little bit boring this one. I tend to skip this one. 6/10 7. The Icicle Melts - Slightly more upbeat, nice...more

This was the first CD album I ever bought. The Cranberries released this album way back in 1994. It has some classic songs on the album and is a really beautiful album. Dolores O'Riordan the lead singer has a bewitching voice and that really captivates the listener. Here is what I make of each song: 1. Ode To My Family - A very nice start to the album. Soft melody and beautiful lyrics. And a great vocal performance. 8/10 2. I Can't be With You - A more upbeat song. This was one of my favorite songs of the 90's. I love this song and it has a really good sound to it. The chorus is addictive and sticks in your head all day. ...  Read the complete review

The Cranberries. A band pretty knew and loved here in Italy (the sold-out in Bologna and Milano on April confirm this impression), which entered in my life in 1995. "Zombie" is the song of the summer '95 in Italy. A new sound, different from songs that were played in those months, a hard sound that Italians like. The cd single sold very well, remaining on the top of the charts for weeks and weeks. I like the song and I decide to buy the whole album "No need to argue". Now I can say, 7 years later, that it was the best cd I ever bought. Ok, I'm speaking as a Cranberries fan, but I think that anyone who listened to this cd can ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review No Need To Argue - The Cranberries: No need to argue indeed (700 words)

No Need to Argue Like another Irish chanteuse Dolores O Riordan has a very distinctive voice which is again both a strength and weakness capturing the hearts of some and driving away others. I feel this album was their strong point, a more mature creation than Everyone Else… and far less laboured than To the Faithful Departed. But this is not a happy happy joy joy album, many of its tracks are emotional trials, I dont think anyone will disagree wiht that statement. The growing maturity and confidence of the band is shown in the georgeous first track Ode to my Family where Delores floats warbling above the rest of the band who conjour up ...  Read the complete review

The album is fun to listen to, the tracks strong to sing along to. All of the bands other albums are a lot better, the tracks all lack passion.

Highlights of the first two albums, performed impeccably. Pre-emptive, and annoying crowd noise.

The bands members are quite talented. A lack of passion in the sound, no personality whatsoever put across in the music.
