I still have the original vinyl recording of this album from 1974 (just shows how old I am) and I think it has taken me almost all of that time to fully appreciate the beauty of this forgotten gem. Forget all about Clarks sojourn with The Byrds, this is nothing like any of the material they were producing even when Gram Parsons was doing his country thing with them. Thre is nothing poppy or jaunty on this album, just the masterful sounds of a man baring his soul. Listeners approaching this album knowing of Gene Clarks time in The Byrds would be advised to listen first- even by the standards set by his preceding albums, this is a huge stylistic leap! That out of the way- for me, this is the high water mark of Americana/Alt Country/Country Rock. The Paramour Sessions - Papa Roach
Polished hooks, many accessible songs, impressive singing
Too many ballads, lots of soft rock, feels contrived and forced
The Merciless - Aura Noir
Old-school thrashy black metal for those who feel modern black metal has lost its way.
Short and lacking in originality.
Studio 1 - All Saints
Pop - Dance Pop - 2006
Soup - The Housemartins
Pop Rock - 2007
Passion - Geri Halliwell
Ride It and Love Never Loved Me
Some weak dud songs here and there
Impossible Princess - Kylie Minogue
A superb and personal album that is thought provoking and musically diverse
The fact that in the blink of an eye, this path was abandoned in favour of a return to pop
Getting Away With Murder - Papa Roach
Some strong music is contained within this album, a number of incredibly hard hitting tracks.
There are a few weak links here, not always is the music entirely effective.
Faceless - Godsmack
Nu Metal - 2003
Ionica Minune - Ionica Minune
Crazy accordian music
Rest of the band hang back to let him strut his stuff a bit too much at times
Nb - Natasha Bedingfield
Persevere with this and it will be very rewarding.
May not be appreciated upon first listen.
