Winds of change were blowing into the sails of the good ship Maiden for their 1990 release 'No Prayer For The Dying'. The British heavy metal emperors had also declared that their 8th studio album would be returning to a more raucous, rock sound more affiliated to their earlier work than the glazed synth tones of the previous couple of progressive albums, 'Somewhere In Time' and 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son', which in themselves had been a well received change in direction for the band. The writing and pre-production stage of the album had seen the amicable departure of guitarist Adrian Smith who was reported to have struggled with inspiration at what he saw ... DISCLAIMER: This is not a Slayer album. This is an Iron Maiden album with an Iron Maiden title, an Iron Maiden picture and three existing reviews on an Iron Maiden album. Dooyoo made a mistake a long time ago. I also long for the day when someone else will post an Iron Maiden review and I can read it. It is the end of the 1980s, a decade that saw Iron Maiden’s increasing success, firstly as the most successful British heavy metal band and then as one of the biggest bands in the world. Seven studio albums and dedicated worldwide tours ensured that Iron Maiden’s next release would certainly be a hit, even if the skilled musicians and lyricists lost ... Read the complete review

I was 13 when I bought this album on recommendation from class mates and upon hearing the chart topping single Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. Its a pretty mixed bag in terms of quality, ranging from the very good, to the extremely weak and plain ludicrous and as such is a purchase best approached with caution. This is not an album which you can comfortably play from start to finish without an irresistible urge to hit the skip button to pass over some of the most stupid lyrics and annoying choruses I have ever heard. Its just all so...indescribably silly. When you hear lyrics like : “better watch out, coz i’m the assasin, better watch out, better watch ... Read the complete review

Welll here they are with another one of there great albums, to me this is a stunning album, and after reading other reviews i decided to give my opinion on this record. Iron Maiden consists of: Bruce Dickenson- Vocals Dave Murray- Guitar Janik Gers- Guitar Steve Harris- Bass Nicko McBrain- Drums Here is a rundown of all the tracks on the album: TailGunner: This is the first of the decent songs with the guitars and bass noticible all the way through and the stunning drums throughtout with the voice of Bruce Dickinson added you have a stunning start to the album, this is a fast paced song much alike most of the album, A good way to ... I guess "No prayer for the dying" was a prayer from Iron Maiden that their ability was still as strong as it alwasys has been, however, with no prayer, they really do fall down the scale somewhat. Now I'm not saying that this album is rubbish, but compared to all the previous ones, no prayer dosen't have the backbone of all Maidens previous material. For example, albums like "Powerslave", with track after track of sheer listening bliss, even the track order seems to complement the songs, or "Number of the beast", with classics like Hallowed be thy name and Run to the hills, original, pioneering and you'll never tire of listening ...
