Advantages: Two great tracks

No Rest for the Wicked is No Model Army's 2nd studio album and was released the year following their Vengeance album - 1985. In many ways the album follows example of their first with a mixture of upbeat tracks and quieter ones. The album has less of a military form to it though although the vocals still reach out and grab you so that there's no ignoring the words Justin Sullivan speaks.

The production on the album is also cleaner and there is a wider variation of styles on the album, tracks like Shot 18 really aren't particularly interesting despite the introduction of mouth organ and may or may not be a harp. Despite each song being lyrically intelligent, the subject matter sometimes seems a little similar and the likes of Grandmother's Footsteps seems rather progressive but actually never really fulfills it's potentials, the better tracks on the album are No Rest (a true anthem) and Young, Gifted and Skint.

The album isn't a patch on their 1st release though and their are far too many tracks which just use the trademark bass sound and vocals to try and squeeze through the album with matter similar to the first one. There is an obscene change in the drumming on this album on certain tracks that gives it a weird feel too. A very disappointing album and I'm surprised it broke into the charts unlike the 1st album.
