I love this album. I've owned it since 2002 and you wouldn't be able to tell that it was released over ten years ago! This is because the album still sounds really funky and fresh.
The album is what I would describe as a pop album but it's actually mature pop, not bubblegum pop. This album would appeal to everyone. It's really enjoyable to listen to and I love the mixture of upbeat songs and ballads. The ballads are nice without being "cheesy nice" if you get my drift. My favourite upbeat song on the album HAS to be Bye Bye Bye. This song is an amazing pop song and I love it's funky beat and two second gap at the end. This song really cheers me up and it makes you wanna singalong to it. It's just great! I also love It's Gonna Be Me which is another fast pop song. I love the way that the boys sing this song and I loved the promo video too.
There's some gorgeous ballads on here too, it's not all about the fast numbers. This I Promise You is a lovely soft ballad and I love the boy's vocals on this song. Justin sings this perfectly and I used to imagine him singing it to me! I also adore the song called That's When I'll Stop Loving You which is another lovely soft ballad/ love song. There's also an appearance by the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes on Space Cowboy, a funky number with a touch of hip hop.
This is a really great pop album and I recommend it to everyone who loves pop music, like me!
Before Justin Timberlake went solo and became justifiably cool - he was one fifth of the amazing (and underrated) boyband - Nsync. And of the 4 albums that Nsync made - this was my favourite. And I'm not ashamed to say that it also makes it into my top 5 albums of all time.
Nsync were an amazing group - and this album created the perfect mix of
ballads and uptempo songs. 'This I promise you', and 'That's when I'll stop loving you' are beautiful songs, whilst 'I'll never stop' and the most
known 'bye bye bye' are uptempo, dance along songs.
The brightly coloured cover artwork shows the five members of the band on a theatre stage hanging in a puppet stance. The CD inside is cool with bright yellow and burgundy swirls!
This album broke records selling millions of copies within its first week
of release (and millions of people cant be wrong) and last year the
American billboard named this the album of the 2000 decade.
If you don't already own it - or if you have worn down your first copy like
I have - then you can buy it on play.com for about £9.99. It is also
available on download.
It's a brilliant album for everyone - whether your boyband mad or not! And if you have JLS obsessed teenagers, then introduce them to this!!
"No Strings Attached" came as the second (non-Christmas) album from the Pop band 'N Sync in 2000. It found them moving things on quite a bit form previous releases as here there was clearly more of an R&B influence with their style, the choices of songs the go with and what the production is like to appeal to a wider audience beyond where they starting things in 1998. The boyband consists of members Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone.
1. "By Bye Bye"
To get the album going here we have a tune which was amongst their most popular. It finds that they drop into some classic Pop material which really represents the time for boybands of this period and how the charts were dominated. You can't really hate on them here as they perform to a high standard and kick it off with some high-tempo material.
2. "It's Gonna Be Me"
This was another popular single form the album and it is one which brings in the alternative influences early on as you find that with Justin's beatboxing, you see them bringing in the Hip Hop in their music. Is is a banger of a joint and has them singing about topics typical of the genre so not all that special, bu the overall thing is very effective.
3. "Space Cowboy"
The late TLC member Left Eye is seen to join the band here as they perform one of many funky tracks within the album as they get down to some R&B-styled material. It fins that JC leads them here and has them performing in a style which really shows you the trends of late nineties and early 2000s Pop (with clear similarities to what The Backstreet Boys did at this time).
4. "Just Got Paid"
Covering some classic pre-New Jack Sing material, you see that here the group bring it forward a few years to make it fit in with the sort of style which the likes of Guy, Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe were about form 1988-1992. It is a banger of a jam and although it may have been a little too early to bring this time back, looking back on it here, it is done extremely well, and is enhanced with Justin's short rap.
5. "It Makes Me Ill"
With Xscape's Kandi on the production, you see that here they get some very current R&B beats to back them up and to display how they compare to what types of things they were attempting to break into with their style on this album. The content of the lyrics also push things in this direction for an overall strongly-constructed recording.
6. "This I Promise You"
With so many hyped up songs, by having a song such as this one to break things up, it is much easy to accept it into the album as you see how well that can perform the much calmer ballad work. It is a nice one and show just how well (Justin especially) is able to perform when moving in this kind of emotive work.
7. "No Strings Attached"
The eponymous track form the album has them getting down to some thing freaky as you see that they are pulled down to one which has them pushing forward more of the energetic material where they show just how well they can perform in the funky style with JC Chasez's leading role. I felt that it was perfect for the album and brings back the excitement of the opener.
8. "Digital Get Down"
For me, this was the best tune on the whole album as it sees them getting down to some of the funkiest material you here anywhere one the thing. You see that Justin was clearly highly influenced by the work of Timberland (before he would eventually work with him for his debut and onwards) with a style very similar to his being brought in the production, From this, the final break was completely unexpected as the Drum & Bass-esque percussion breaks into a proper Jungle drop. It is a hardcore one and exceeds expectation from such a group.
9. "Bringin' Da Noise"
The title of this one indicated the direction this would persist with for this one and it appears that they made little attempt to throw off listeners with something contrary to this as they get down to one which has them pulling in lots of Hip Hop elements to guide them through as they perform one which doesn't deal with anything specifically and rather acts as a hype track.
10. "That's When I Stop Loving You"
Getting back to the gentle Pop material, you see that here they have Diane Warren composing an effective love song to show that the y haven't neglected this aspect of the music. Personally, this one was a bit too Pop to really enjoy and I felt that as they completely took things in a direction which didn't fit in with what was found elsewhere, it wasn't as impressive.
11. "I'll Be Good For You"
With light, subtle Doo-Wop elements added to the song here, you see that for this one they move into the type of thing which they hinted on, but didn't fully explore up until this point as here the production is done in a style which reflects the late seventies style of Funk. It is a rich song and one you can't help but get down with.
12. "I Thought She Knew"
Bringing the album to a close in a way which was anticipated, you see that here they choose to bring in even more of the Doo-Wop material to explore this field fully for an a cappella recording to have them making the most out of their vocal ability and just how effective it can be when made a prominent feature.
For me, this was the best of all the 'N Sync releases as you see that in it they go all-out with the funky, Hip Hop-inspired tunes which bring out the most energy. Although I wouldn't say that all were killers, the consistent high standard within it is something you cannot deny.
"No Strings attached" continues to hold the record for the fastest selling album in its first week selling one million in its first day of release and 2.4 million in the 7 days. Its success is much deserved as every track stands out in its own right. J.C Chasez was responsible for much of the material contrary to the common belief that Justin Timberlake was the reason for the bands popularity. Songs such as the up tempo "Bye, Bye, bye", the r'n'b "It Makes Me ill" and the moving "I Thought She Knew" showcase the guys talent, range and diversity making it an album that can be enjoyed in its entirety without the requisite common skipping for most records. The videos alongside the tunes contributed to the stir that was nsync and firmly cemented the band as the best boyband of all time. It saddens to me to think that there will be no more no strings attached to come!
This album sold a whopping 2.4 million in its first week in the US, at least partly because of being repeatedly delayed due to disputes with the management. The other reason for its big success was the lead single Bye, Bye, Bye, which received lots of airplay.
***Bye Bye Bye***
The album's opening track is an up-tempo pop number that is infectious from start to finish.
***It's Gonna Be Me***
This is another fairly quick track that is the same kind of vein as the previous track, although it's not quite as fast-paced as Bye Bye Bye.
This is an electro-pop track featuring Lisa Lopes from TLC. It is annoyingly catchy at times. JC has a writing credit on this track, along with Lopes.
***Just Got Paid***
This is another fairly quick track with a bit of an r'n'b feel. Although it is reasonably catchy, it doesn't have quite the same appeal as some of the other up-tempo tracks on the album.
***It Makes Me Ill***
This is another slick song but I am rather put off this track because of the lyrics. If you can get past the fact that they are ever so slightly amusing (in an unintentional way presumably), this is another pretty good track.
***This I Promise You***
This is a beautiful ballad that demonstrates the boys' lovely vocals. The track was written by Richard Marx (of Right Here Waiting fame).
***No Strings Attached***
The album's title track is a reference to the fact that the boys split from their controlling management shortly before the release of this album. It is another of the up-tempo, catchy offerings, and was co-written by JC.
***Digital Get Down***
This is another fairly up-tempo number but it's one that I'm not really very keen. JC has another co-writing credit here.
***I'll Never Stop***
This track is in a similar style to Bye Bye Bye and is an up-tempo pop number.
***Bringin' Da Noise***
This is another of the fairly up-tempo tracks and was co-written by JC. As with Digital Get Down, it's one that I don't care much for.
***That's When I'll Stop Loving You***
This is another of the ballads on the album, which is similar to This I Promise You but not quite as good in my opinion. Diane Warren wrote this track.
***I'll Be Good For You***
This is a fairly upbeat track but not as fast as the likes of Bye, Bye Bye and not as catchy. Justin has a co-writing credit here.
***I Thought She Knew***
This track features some very impressive harmonies that are well showcased as there is no production to disguise them. This a great demonstration of how well they work together as a group as well as individually. It's a totally a capella arrangement, which is very brave!
***If Only Through Heaven's Eyes***
This is another slower track and has some touching lyrics that are quite emotional.
Overall, this is a good album if you like up-tempo and fairly catchy pop tunes. The best tracks are Bye Bye, Bye, It's Gonna Be Me, I'll Never Stop and This I Promise You but there are other decent tracks to back them up. The a capella I Thought She Knew is impressive as most boybands stay well away from this type of track.
N*sync- Not strings Attached!
Who does not love N*Sync. Nysnc are probably one of my favourite boy bands from America and I must say I have loved most of their songs. I remember buying this album many many moons ago and I still listen and enjoy it now.
The album itself consists of 14 songs. Some are slow, and some are fast
Bye Bye Bye is one of my fav songs. I loved the video and the song itself. Back when it was released this song was really popular but failed to make it to number 1 - I remember being gutted!!
They have some other good songs which have been released also on this album. It'sgonna be me was another of my favourites with a great video again, this I promise you and I will never stop.
Most of the songs on this album are ultimate cheesey songs, but you cannot help but love them!!
Definatley worth every penny I spent on it. I would recommend anyone to buy!
I bought this album as i had heard the first two songs, the never forotten bye bye bye, and its gonna be me. BOOM the album starts with a bang and a good bang. The album then descends into forgetfulness. Lisa left eye lopez, R.I.P., makes a cameo on the third track, space cowboy. However just got paid, it makes me ill, this i promise you and no strings attached are useless pop nonsense. Track 8, digital get down, is a lively number, and one you could dance to. I thought the album had taken a good turn as track 9, i'll never stop, is quite fun too. However the final 5 songs are possibly the worst end to an album i've ever heard. Justin Timberlake gives all his emotion to songs but in the final five, bringin da noise, thats when i'll stop loving you, i'll be good for you, if i'm not the one, and i thought she knew, it sounds as if he is moaning his way through them. This album, well as track 5 says "it makes me ill"
Nsync are a great American boyband, this is the second album they released, excluding christmas ones and so on. I bought this just because I had heard Bye Bye Bye and quite liked it. I absolutely love this album . TRACKLISTING ____________ 1.Bye Bye Bye 3:19 2.It's Gonna Be Me 3:11 3.Space Cowboy 4:21 4. This has a a great and powerful sound to it. The singing is good also here, a catchy beat to go along with it. I love dancing to songs like this, there are many more excellent songs like this on the album. This song got to no3 in the UK charts, which is their highest entry here. 2.IT'S GONNA BE ME-This is another brilliant single which was released from the album. I particularly liked the video because it was them all dressed up as dolls, which was strange. This has an unusual but very catchy pop sound. The rhythm to the song is great for dancing and another top hit here. 3.SPACE COWBOY-This song features Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez in it. I personally wanted this to be a single but it was never released. The beats in this song are very strong, but the rhythm is brilliant. Another great song for a party, always count on Nsync to produce an upbeat album, which I love. 4.JUST GOT PAID-This isn't one of the best songs on the album but it's still catchy and upbeat. This is a song which is midtempo, singing fits well with the music. Justin does the main vocals in this song (Justin-Britney Spears' boyfriend). 5.IT MAKES ME ILL-I l
ove this song, it's a different beginning but I learnt all of the words awhcih makes it easier to sing to. The rhythm is just brilliant to this song, not much music to it but still really catchy all bobbing along well. It makes me ill is about a guy jealous of seeing his ex girlfriend with another guy. 6.THIS I PROMISE YOU-This is a very dull song, I didn't even get used to it when it was released. This didn't do very well in the UK charts because it wasn't the right choice of song, Nsync are better at their uptempo songs than ballads. I think the singing is very nice in this song but for me the music just doesn't pick up to be anything great. This is a soppy ballad, I like some like Alicia Keys ones are nice but not this. 7.NO STRINGS ATTACHED-This is an excellent song, I love it. This starts of with lots of crashing sounds mixing up into a fabulous song. The beats are so powerful along with the music. It's great for dancing to and it's just avery uptempo song, just excellent! This should have been a single to instead of no6. 8.DIGITAL GET DOWN-I am guessing this song is about a guy talking to a girl online, from the words anyway. This has a creepy sort of sound to it. I like the song though it's really good, catchy music and the singing is quite good, it fits in. The chorus is so catchy to this it's absolutely brilliant. 9.I'LL NEVER STOP-This was a single, which was a good choice but the video was so cheaply done, clips of them on tour and so on and girls singing to the song in their room. This didn't really do well here because of the usual fault with Nsync they never come to the UK to promote their songs. This song is so great I love it. The music is brilliant, very Nsync and the singing is great to witht the music. The rhythm is brilliant and it all works excellently. 10.BRINGIN' DA NOISE-This is a very uptempo song, catchy and really good to dance to also. Not an ex
cellent song but the beat is good and so is the singing. The music is quite simple in this song, I like the bridge to this song and the chorus then gets lively. 11.THAT'S WHEN I'LL STOP LOVING YOU-This is a ballad, this is quite a nice one. Justin's very high pitched voice fits well to the muisc. I don't really listen to this song much although it is very nice. The rhythm is good to it and it all works well. The chorus is my favourite part of the song. 12.I'LL BE GOOD FOR YOU-This is a really good song, mid tempo and it is a relaxing song. The music is calm and the singing is very soft and it all flows perfectly. I think this is in a good place to calm down the album a bit, it's ballads like these Nsync can do that are not too slow but they have some music to them. 13.IF I'M NOT THE ONE-I like this song also, it doesn't start off that well but it gets better as it goes on. The bridge to this song is really good also then the chorus makes the song a bit better. I like the line 'I keep writing letters to my garbage can', that is irrelevant information but I may as well put it because it shows the strange lyrics nsync have but they are good. 14.I THOUGHT SHE KNEW-This is terribly boring, too slow and the kind of ballad I hate. Not the best song to end the album it would have been better without it. This song does not build up and by the end of it I am about falling asleep. OVERALL _______ This is an excellent album, I recommend it to people that like Nsync's music, well from singles you won't be able to tell because they don't release their best songs so buy the album and I can guarantee you will love it.
To start this op, i'd like to introduce n'sync. they're made up of justin (timberlake, well known by Britney Spear's intimate bf), JC (short for justin christopher), lance, joey and chris. Reading some of the few ops here i'm surprised to see that not many people liked this. A lot of people have compared this to backstreet boys - in a way i agree that n'sync is quite similar to the bsb - look at that "I'll never stop" video - a total copy from "The One" off the BSB - only some more story with the girls in the living room and the idea of telephone message i guess! But to be honest, the album has shown that n'sync is actually quite different to the BSB - they add touches of garage music and a slight touch of punk and western indie. well, i'll stop commenting on n'sync and BSB for now and back to the album "No Strings Attached". There are 14 songs in total, consisting a range of popular music styles: BYE BYE BYE - the smashit single which reached No. 3 in the UK singles' chart, the main style and trademark of n'sync IT'S GONNA BE ME - also a smashit shingle which reached No. 3 in the UK singles' chart, similar style to BYE BYE BYE, even the video is quite similar - the same girl, all five puppies. one of my favourite, didn't get off my head for a whole week SPACE COWBOY (YIPPIE-YI-YAY) - this is a VERY different one to their trademark style - the pop/dancy tune. this is rather western indie and rap with the rap from Lisa Left-eye Lopez. there are quite a bit this kind of song in this album JUST GOT PAID - another western indie style with the 'yappy' sound qualities - not one of my favourite as it's not so lyrical, but makes u say 'yeppy'! IT MAKES ME ILL - back to their trademark style but slightly over to the more alternate side. it's about seein' the ex-gf with another man and the
sudden realisation of loss. quite a good one i think THIS I PROMISE YOU - this is the third single released from this album in the UK and it is a beautiful ballad - makes you tearful NO STRINGS ATTACHED - the album is named after this song and I was surprised that they didn't release this as a single. and of course, back to their trademark DIGITAL GET DOWN - this is a V.V. different one to their recognised style. it's more garage and if you have heard their new single 'pop' from their forthcoming album 'celebrity', then they are in a similar style. it sounds rather like the british garage tunes and yet in a way it is similar to SPACE COWBOY BRINGIN' DA NOISE - similar to DIGITAL GET DOWN THAT'S WHEN I'LL STOP LOVING YOU - another beautiful ballad by the five tallented guys - so beautiful that you start to recognise how much you love your loved ones I'LL BE GOOD FOR YOU - another ballad I THOUGHT SHE KNEW - now this is quite unique. no accompany is ever used in this song and the harmony, just makes you say 'gosh'! not many pop bands nowadays do such good harmonies, not even the new popstar hear'say - they are more soloists - but n'sync here has shown such a co-operation and their strong vocal - shows that they are no ordinary pop band, heh? I'LL NEVER STOP - this is the fourth smashit single that the band released and as i have talked about earlier this is quite like the BSB's THE ONE - a joint to the BSB i guess IF ONLY IN HEAVEN'S EYES - as name suggests, another moving ballad overall this album is very good and i don't normally skip songs on this album. different qualities are shown in this album yet the style is still recognisable - not like Robbie William's 'Sing when you are winning' which contained a variety of songs but lost it's originality. apparently this album has been produced b
y n'sync themselves and this is why it is so different to their last album, N'SYNC - 'NO STRINGS ATTACHED' is more original, more mature, and less manufactured. No wonder why the sale achieved a whopping 2,400,000 in the first week in the US only - there certainly is no strings attached!
Despite hating cheesy boy and girl bands.... I just cant help but love this album, its a real mixture of sounds, without too many ballads, which can only be a good thing!!! There are the obviously good songs, 'bye bye bye', and 'its gonna be me', and there are some 5 or so other fantastic songs, that are very smooth with new sounds and instruments being used in the different songs. There is also a wide variety of music styles catered for here; there is a definite touch of r'n'b on a couple of the songs, there is also a strong dance feel to some of the songs, and of course there is their cheesy boy-band stuff too!! This is definatley better than their first album, although that was also pretty good, as the sound is more modern and sophisticated and varied. To anyone who likes a bit of cheesy music with an r'n'b edge to it, this is a definite winner.... go buy it!!!
I absolutely love NSYNC's No Strings Attached. It isn't because they're adorable guys (even though they are), because there are tons of cute guys in this world. It isn't because they dance so well. It's because they are very talented musicians and this album proves it. This albums has several great dance songs and 3 amazing ballads. The harmonies on NSA are absolutely amazing. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I've been studying music for almost 13 years. This album will make anyone rethink their beliefs that *NSYNC is just a manufactured pop group--or it ought to. They are so far from the stereotyped groups you always hear about. If you think that this cd is going to be loved by JUST teenagers and little 8-year old kids, it isn't. My DAD loved it. He likes it so much that I've contemplated buying him his own copy. My mom even likes it, and she usually doesn't like pop.
