Rating:

No substance was the 10 full studio album from the punk band bad religion. While it does contain some pretty good songs, all of the songs on it are pretty average and nothing really stands out too much on this album, a bit like a lot of there other material when they have all been pretty good songs but they fail to have some really good tracks, much unlike their fourth album no control which was just brilliant. Premium Review Shades Of Truth (473 words)

Rating:

'No Substance' is the tenth studio album from Bad Religion, it consists of a total of sixteen tracks and features 42 minutes of music. Although not the finest album that Bad Religion has ever released as a band, 'No Substance' is still quite an interesting album release from Bad Religion and a worthwhile addition to the music collection of any major fan of the band. This was the bands third album release through Atlantic Records and although it was the tenth album that Bad Religion released as a band they had certainly not here run out of ideas. The album begins with 'Hear It', the second shortest track on the album and one that has a run time of a mere 1 ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

'No Substance' is an improvement over 'The Gray Race' and sees Bad Religion once again moving forwards with their sound, this time seemingly in an attempt to keep up with the ever-growing popularity of their contemporaries such as the Offspring and Green Day, but obviously never at a cost to the band's punk integrity. The experimental edge that proved so successful in the early nineties (and so dreadful in the early eighties) resurfaces to mixed success, but it all makes for a much more satisfying album than a mere retread of 'Stranger Than Fiction' that the record company would likely have been even happier to put out. Brian Baker continues to prove that he's ...  Read the complete review

It IS worth a listen. You might like. Production is shabby, although suits the style.

An excellent live album, fantastic from start to finish. The songs all sound very similar, this may put some off listening.

Fine return to form, without selling out. Abandons the experiments of recent years in favour of a more commercially viable sound.

some really good songs, good to see them do slow songs too not all of them are amazing
