It set the standard for a lot of similar tracks around the time, though nobody came close to sounding as sexy as this lot (Flock Of Seagulls anyone?) Highlights: I always play 'Skin Trade' at high volume, as Le Bon belts out 'would someone please explain the reason for this strange behaviour.' The song is rather complex lyrically and requires several listens to get your head around it. Once you understand though y...more

Rating:

I chanced upon Duran Duran many moons ago and have not looked back since. Their unique blend of rock and pop fuse so well together and the band have such charisma. This is one of their earlier efforts and remains a treat to this day. Who are they: Big in the eighties, new age romantic Duran Durans were fronted by Simon Le Bon. Key members include John Taylor and Nick Rhodes on keyboards. On this album: The title track is a bold slice of pop music with a gritty edge. The chanty chorus always sounds a bit angry to me, but it is what I would deem a landmark record. It set the standard for a lot of similar tracks around the time, ...  Read the complete review

Notorious is Duran Durans 5th album. It has ten tracks on it and was released in 1986. Only four members of Duran Duran featured on it. They were Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Andy Taylor and Nick Rhodes. Roger Taylor had left the group before the album was recorded. The Tracks. 1. Notorious. 2. American Science. 3. Skin Trade 4. Hold Me 5. Vertigo 6. So Misled 7. Meet El Presidente - This managed to reach number 24 in the UK charts. 9. Proposition 10. Notorious. I really think that he only 2 tracks i really did enjoy were Meet El Presidente and Notorious. Duran Duran chose to go down a completely different ...  Read the complete review

THE BAND Everyone's heard of Duran Duran. Formed in Birmingham in 1979 at the start of the New Romantic and New Wave scenes (a showy, glamorous poke in the face to punk) they went on to achieve massive worldwide popularity and amass top ten hits between 1981 and 1993. They won a lifetime achievement award at this years Brit Awards and this prompted me to get my old Duran albums down from the loft and give them another spin. The band was made up of Simon Le Bon (vocals), John Taylor (bass), Nick Rhodes (synths), Andy Taylor (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums). None of the Taylors are related. The band split in two to pursue solo projects in 1985 (namely ...  Read the complete review

A great Duran Duran album None

Further refines the band's complex sound. Post-rock and prog influences lead to inevitable problems with length.

A less aggro-centric Slipknot with slightly more musical ability. Nothing original, merely an obvious smorgasbord of influence.

New Wave & Post-punk - 1997

Some good tracks You dont get the concert feel

A good introduction to the band Misses some less known classics
