... well written and emotionally performed, and is the first indication of a new star. Elton John's collaboration with pre-recorded 2Pac tune Ghetto Gospel went down a hit, showing that the 88keys man can adapt with the times, and Coldplay's Speed of Sound was a cult hit that I found quite soothing to listen to. Black Eyed Peas were fresh and early here, and Don't Funk With Ma Heart is quite a tame and underconfident track compared with their more recent 'out there' releases. Entries also from KT Tunstall, Razorlight and Th...more

Premium Review Now That's What I Call Music! 61: Look out, it's thje one with the Crazy Chick AND the Crazy F ... (584 words)

Rating:

The second of three Now That's What I Call Music albums to be released in 2005, Now 61 contains much of the music made popular over the late Spring and early Summer of this year. It ioncorporates a lot of clinically good music, and while not being so much the smash hit poppy album, it certainly has some elements of technical musical brilliance. As an album, it is quirky in its construction, with the charts in that year seeing the dawn of a few new stars shining through as well as a couple of previous stars returning for glory, so it's a case of in with new AND in with the old. The first disc starts off with a song that was initially massively ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Now 61 - Great For Summer! (2112 words)
by - written on 09/08/05 (Very useful, 2202 readings)
Rating:

Now Thats What I Call Music 61 is the latest addition to the Now album. This is aimed at the summer by the looks of the album cover here. This latest album has more recognisable songs than the previous album and I am surprised that this one does not have any Asian singers or bands in, which makes it a good change. Both CDs are great with singles from James Blunt, 2Pac, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Audio Bullys, Oasis, Bodyrockers, Caesars, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, U2, Akon and many more. The first CD in the album is tended to be a pop, rap, and rock music theme. The second CD is tended to be pop and dance music. So let's do a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Now That's What I Call Music! 61: COME ON GIRLS - ITS WINDOWS DOWN TIME! (1390 words)

Oh no, not another one I hear you say …….. The biggest and best compilation around returns for another mammoth dose of pop hits, indie beats, urban anthems and dance floor filling tunes from the charts. It’s getting on a bit now, upto no 61 but its still just as good and just as good value. If you want a varied mixture of chart hits then this is the cd for you. The track listing really speaks for itself as it gives the listener some mainstream yet varied pop tunes of the UK chart since the previous offering in April this year. Because of its varied tunes, even my children (aged between 2 and 8) enjoy listening to it. Makes me feel a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Now that is another good album (192 words)
by - written on 24/01/09 (Useful, 26 readings)
Rating:

The Now albums are a benchmark by which compilation albums should be judged. They have been around since the early eighties and are still going strong to this day. They actually sell more copies these days than they did back in the eighties Tracks: There are 43 tracks on this album, so you are getting a lot of music for about fifteen quid straight off. Artists include James Blunt, Oasis, Weezer, Nelly and Heather Small Best tracks: Weezer's 'Beverley Hills' is a tongue in cheek slow rock burner and worth hearing, also check out Kasier Chief's 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less' which is a brilliant punk fuelled synth fest. Styles: You ...  Read the complete review
