Maybe you have noticed I have been doing a rather few reviews of the Now series. So I’ll keep going – backwards! Now 45 was the start of 2000 Now covering the songs of late 1999, and new hits of 2000. Once again, I’ll start with Disc Two as it is boring, and I usually run out of steam by then!

Disc Two’s major songs come in the form of #1’s from Chicane and Fragma. Both these are good, not great, but good songs. Basically they are dance, but are poppy enough to be liked by a wider group. Now I sadly can’t go through the order of Disc Two as it is so boring and is my most un listened to Disc from any Now I have. Kelis, Artful Dodger f/Craig David and Sash! are the only really average songs on here. There are some other forgettable, but not bad, songs. The album ends with a weird mix from Robbie Williams (“Its Only Us” – a very average song), The Tamperer – who own the best song on the Disc, Blink 182’s great tune “All The Small Things”, the stupid Hamster song and John Lennon. Basically 4 songs on here that are good. Out of 23.

On to Disc One! Its quite a goody, but no a greaty! We start with four #1’s – Gabrielle’s “Rise”, Mel C’s brilliant “Never Be The Same Again:, Craig David’s grower “Fill Me In” and Britney’s catchy “Born To Make You Happy”. The next few songs aren’t bad with Lene Marlin being the standout, with songs appealing to different groups from Backstreet Boys, Tom Jones/Stereophonics, Shania Twain and Geri Halliwell.

Now we come into a rather cheesy group. S Club 7’s average “You’re my Number One”, as well as Vengaboys, Aqua, Daphne And Celeste and Atomic Kitten. Not maybe the most brilliant songs, should’ve been delegated to disc two. We end with some good tunes though. In a run we get Madison Avenue’s #1 ‘Don’t Cal
l Me Baby”, Martine’s nice “Love Me”, Steps’s catchy “Say You’ll Be Mine”, Honeyz “Won’t Take It Lying Down” and the most underrated song of all time – “Rewind” by Precious. Boyzone are boring, but Fierce aren’t bad to end the disc.

Overall, Disc One starts great, hits a bad patch, then gets back to form. Full of pop gems, a nice disc to have in your collection. Probably is a little too poppy for some. Disc two is boring and way to dancey. Maybe they should have mixed them together?
If you like your chart hits, and to get a couple of CD’s filled with them – this is for you. Also if you wanna flash back to 2000 – it’s a great reminder. Check out the listing and decide.
