Advantages: Saves singles, Great Hits

Disadvantages: Does bore, Some tracks you naturally will not like

Now 47 is the final Now of 2000. It went out with a bang!

CD One gets straight into it: Robbie Williams (Rock DJ), Modjo (Lady) and Ronan Keating (Life Is A Rollercoaster), three of the years biggest hits getting the album off to a kicking, surprisingly male-orientated start. Then Texas appear. Why a #6 is so far up on a Christmas Now is beyond me, but oh well! It’s a rather boring tune, sadly. Bon Jovi’s #3 smash from May (Its My Life) is a brilliant rock-pop song and personally, I am very happy its here. We then get U2 and David Gray, before popping into All Saints – with the second biggest seller of the year (Pure Shores), showing Now have made the effort. Spice Girls’s comeback single (Holler) is here – then the rather boring Architects.

The second half of the Disc is my favourite. Highlights are the brilliant song from LeAnn Rimes (Can’t Fight The Moonlight), Britney’s solid song (Lucky), Anastacia’s top tune (I’m Outta Love) and Robbie and Kylie (Kids). Most of the others are all good too – with only a couple of boring ones – but they aren’t unknown songs, just songs I don’t like that much!

CD Two starts off and goes well, surprisingly, for ten tracks. Martine McCutcheon owns my favourite song on the Disc, and its track one! (I’m Over You). Kylie and Steps bring party tunes (On A Night Like This and Stomp) – both catchy and happy. The next few tracks go with two Solo-Spice songs that are actually very good (I Turn To You and Out Of Your Mind). Billie and Vanessa Amarosi give us two reasonable tunes – both of which are fairly basic. Sonique (Sky) and Delerium (Silence) are the final two great tunes before we get into dance stuff. This time around the dance is actually rather good (Zombie Nation, Take My Breath Away, Ordinary World and Time To Burn are all great tracks). We end with some r&b/pop in the from of Gabrielle, Mel B and the lovely
Louise.

You will know most of these, and know the artists. So if these are the kind of songs you like – get this while you can. It’s a great reminder, and a good cover of the year 2000. If you don’t like chart/radio hits then this is probably not for you, but if you do have an open mind at least check it out as it is probably the most wide appeal Now of the last few years.
