... looking forward to in terms of the bands was Primal Scream's Country Girl. It wasn't quite as good as their older stuff, but it was still a welcome addition for me. The Zutons' Valerie was a big track as well, although a lot of people would be confused between this version and the cover that Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse did later. The cover version is perhaps, and unfairly so, the better known one due to the higher publicity it received, but the Zutons' original version is much better, as it should be. The second disc...more

Premium Review Now That's What I Call Music! 64: Now That's a cleverly combined music compilation! (1262 words)

Rating:

2006 was a catchy year for chart music. There were a lot of new artists, and a lot of comebacks, and some of them are featured here on this album, Now That's What I Call Music Volume 64. The Now team have just released Now 72 for general retail, and no doubt it will do just as well as the previous 71 have managed to over the years since Now 1 first came out in the mid-1980s. I am generally quite critical of some of the song choices on these albums, but I appreciate that a lot of it is going to be down to personal taste, with those who listen to nothing but the charts finding themselves agreeing with the choices, while those who go for a broader selection will ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

I have built myself quite a CD collection over the years, and although songs are now available widely on download, I still buy CDs! The sorts of CDs imnmy collection vary, but I do have a lot of Now CDs. The Now Thats What I Call Music options is a collection of CD albums, usually with two disks, which is released seasonally. It is packed full of the latest hits released over the few months previous. One of these albums is Now 64. Now 64 can be recognised by its surf-like background with the cool blue water and the coloured surfboards. Needless to say, this was released during Summer, and in 2006. Spread over the two CDs it has a total of 43 tracks.I ...  Read the complete review

With Windmills Turning Wrong Directions - No Comply
Innovative, thought provoking, and exciting. The band are no longer together so this is the newest material we'll ever hear from them.

Matinee - Jack Penate
Fast paced tracks the best Couple of weaker offerrings

Here On Earth - Adequate Seven
A number of highly infectious, incredibly catchy songs The tracks don't sound as good on CD as they did live

Hed Kandi - The Mix 2006
Compilation - 2005

Hed Kandi - The Mix Summer 2007
Dance & Electronic - House & Garage - 2007

Eden - Everything But The Girl
Good songs, good lyrics Some songs are very short

Dusk And Summer - Dashboard Confessional
Great music to kick back and relax to Most of the tracks here are fairly forgettable

Blackout - Britney Spears
Consistent, polished dance/pop Weak vocals and uninspired subject matter

Awake - Josh Groban
More English language, making of DVD none!

Alienigma - Agent Steel
Some more repetitive groove metal tracks if you really needed them. Old men have lost their way and try to get back in touch; the result is merely competent.
