Basshunter is a swedish Dj named Jonas Altberg, whom makes songs which all sound the same but annoyingly catchy with his throbbing bassline and corny choruses. I saw some one had put he stole the song 'Now your gone' from Dj Alex but he wrote the song first on his computer and got past onto a swedish radio show before Dj Alex picked it up and turned it into English so i feel basshunter needs more credit than he gets. Although Basshunter has had many critics, his debut single 'Now your gone' was the biggest selling single of last year selling 400,000 copies. In my opinion this album is definately worth buying if you are into dance music, if you are not then you may find this eurodance to cheesey. When i saw basshunter had an album i laughed and never anticapted that i would buy it, i did buy it and loved it. The songs are all of a happy, feel good style which you can easily dance along too. Songs that will make you want to go clubbing and remind you off years ago when eurodance was at its biggest. Rating - 7/10
In 2007 not many people in the UK had heard of Basshunter, Jonas Erik Altberg. Though most of Europe would have been familiar with him. Basshunter had registered a massive hit all over the world with Boten Anna. I actually bought the Boten Anna track a few years back and always knew it would be huge if the UK just got to hear it.
In 2008, January saw the release of Now You're Gone, a reworking of his Boten Anna hit. The track debuted on download at number 14 in the charts and the following week had shot to number one in the charts. It stayed at the number one spot for an amazing 5 weeks. The public were divided, some loved it some hated it. But you could not argue it was one of the hookiest dance records for years.
Basshunter had aleady released his album 'Lol' in Europe and now the UK market was ready for his material. The record label gave him a few weeks to compose some new tracks so they could hit the summer season with a Basshunter album. Now You're Gone The Album came out and shot straight to number one.
Tracks: Now You're Gone: the best, catchy and fast and a huge seller, All I Ever Wanted was the follow up, reaching number 2 in the charts and equally catchy. Then came Angel In The Night and I Miss You. A lot of the album sounds samey and you will find by the end it has sort of merged into one big heap, but if you like cheesy dance then this album will thrill you.
Good news: All pretty upbeat and fun
Bad news: Some extra tracks in the form of dull remixes to bump it up in value stakes
Overall: Worth a listen for the singles alone
Basshunter, Jonas Erik Altberg is a Swedish DJ has recently made a presence in the UK after releasing a number of songs from his UK debut album Now YOu're Gone and is extremely popular with the younger generation and those like myself that wanted to listen to something that took them back to their younger clubbing days.
I was curious to listen to this album, although I am probably a little too old now for this kind of music, years ago I quite liked the tracks from Ultrabeat, although they do become extremely annoying and the lyrics are rather dire, in comparison to Ultrabeat I thought Basshunter were going to be along the same lines.
Having released two tracks in the UK, which have charted in the positions of 1 and 2 during 2007 and 2008, Basshunter is particurly popular in his home country and neighbouring countries of Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, who are very much into the electronica dance music anyway and you find that many of these kind of artists come from these countries anyway.
The album itself I think displays that he is not English and struggles a little bit with the English language, or should I say that these kind of artist have problems with lyrics full stop. The album is full of catchy beats and are great for the clubs of today. However it is quite obvious that he can not sing under any circumstances. Although the electronica beats vary track to track which gives it that like bit of variation, the song words are very similar and I could cringe the amount of times that you hear the word smile withi every track.

On a similar style as Scooter, who also come from Europe I found this album likeable when it comes to the beats of the tracks, however lyrics are completely and utterly attrocious. Good for the younger, much younger than me generation, but not for us fun loving adults that want to capture a little bit of our youth back.
