... really give it a place. The vocals go well with the beat and rhythm. This is a track that really gets your attention. Its not got a fast tempo but it isn't slow either. Ocean Avenue 5/5 This was the first track I ever heard by Yellowcard, I heard it from an old friend I used to hang out with at the park, he played it all the time...I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. Its got a catchy beat and some great lyrics, that are easy to memorise. The chorus is extremely catchy and is one of those that get stuck...more

Premium Review Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard: There's a Place Called Ocean Avenue (956 words)
by - written on 29/01/08 (Very useful, 73 readings)
Rating:

'Ocean Avenue' is the 2004 album from the American Pop Punk band Yellowcard. Although fitting snugly into the genre of Pop Punk, the band actually incorporate a violin into their sound and this is something that makes them stand out a little from the crowd. When you listen to the music of Yellowcard it is not your standard Pop Punk affair and therefore their music is all the more interesting to listen to. The first track I ever heard from this album was 'Life of a Salesman', a track that initially put me off listening to 'Ocean Avenue' as I was not at all a fan of what I heard. With 'Life of a Salesman' there is just too much going on within the track at ...  Read the complete review

==Yellowcard: Ocean Avenue== Yellowcard first formed in 2000, they are from Jacksonville, Florida in the US. They come under the genre Pop/Punk. The band is currently on a hiatus. A little while after releasing The Underdog EP, Yellowcard got signed by Capitol records. Their popularity soared to the top when they released their single Ocean Avenue, a short while after they released another single called Way Away. ===Band Members=== Ryan Key - lead vocals, rhythm guitar [2000-2008] Sean Mackin - violin, backing vocals [1999-2008] Ryan Mendez - lead guitar, backing vocals [2005-2008] W. Being a Yellowcard convert recently, thanks to a certain someone out there introducing to me to their ocean avenue album, I have listened to it non stop. It’s a blink182 type band but with better lyrics in my case, and anyone who reads my music reviews will know that I love lyrics within the songs more than anything as well as the actual beat, rhythm and instruments in the song. Lyrics to me are what makes you think, and can symbolise how you think, feel things and how you can change your mood. They make you who you are and what you are in life, and I think that Yellowcard lyrics totally rock. So without further ado, here goes: ****Biography**** The ...  Read the complete review

***Just to let you know that this is only what I make of the album. If you would like an excellent, detailed review of Ocean Avenue then read "angiebabyqueen's", it's top notch, a fantastic read and very accurate! If you want to know my views then read away*** Yellowcard are an unpredictable and entertaining band from California. Not your usual whiney, angry rock ensemble, their music tells tales of past experiences and highlights morals, providing music with meaning. Fair enough, every band claims to do this at the moment, and at first glance Yellowcard do seem like just any other band, but give them time and attention and their music ...  Read the complete review

Yellowcard OCEAN AVENUE This is a pop punk/alternative band that are amazing they use electric violins which is unusal for this genre of music but they are exceedingly good. Each track are around 5 minutes each and all have excpetional Vocals and lyrics. I bought this CD off amazon for £9 roughly plus postage and package so it came to £11 almost which I personally think it is worth it. The album's tracklist is as follows Way Away (Brilliant track got some good rhythm to it) Breathing (This track has good vocals and the electric violin really stands out) Ocean Avenue (Good guitaring and an ...  Read the complete review
