I got into The Offspring a couple of years ago through the hit <Pretty Fly for a white guy>, and whilst it was good at the time as was the album <Americana>, I generally cringe when I hear them now. The boredom I eventually got from listening to the latest Offspring hits inspired me to look bad at their past discography as I am doing now; <Jennifer lost the war> Wow! I was so surprised when I first put the album on – it’s more skate punk than pop punk, without the eventually irritatingly catchy tunes. Although this song is good and fast and eventually infectious, it doesn’t scream <instant hit>, which is what appeals to me the ... Read the complete review

kay, so pretty much everybody under the sun who takes nay interest in music has heard one track by the OFFSPRING - The grunge kids all listened to 'Self Esteem' aswell as Nirvana, and the nu-metal fans have Americana nestled neatly next to Papa Roach in their CD collection. But contrary to popular belief the Offspring didn't just appear in 1998 with 'Pretty Fly'. Their earliest release was their self titled album -> THE OFFSPRING. Originally released circa 1989, this came out when the Offspring were touring their native Orange County playing to "10 people a night - mostly support bands and their girlfriends" (Dexters ... The Offspring formed in 1984, and are my favourite band ever. I've got all their albums, loads of singles, the video, clothes... but their modern style is much different and more clean-cut than the rebellious, anti-government, anti-police, anti-almost everything style they began with. The band formed in 1984 in Orange County, LA (with some different members than today), but by 1989 (the time that they recorded this album for the first time on the Nemesis Records label) the band was as it is now: Bryan "Dexter" Holland (vocals- he didn't play guitar on the albums in them days), Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman (guitar), Greg "Greg ... When i reccomended this album as a new section i didn't know how to put the release. Y'see This album was ACTUALLY released somewhere between 1989 and 1991 through Nemesis records, but they only made 1000 copies so i realised that about 5 people in the whole country would have it. Then i remembered my copie was from 1995, when Offspring Voclaist Bryan "Dexter" Holland and Bassist Greg K, set up their own label: Nitro Records. That i where this album re-enters the scene. They re-released it exactly the same as the original, but on their OWN label. anyway, here is my review. This is not the best album, but hte sound is pretty good. This album was ...
