Am I the only person who finds it painful to listen to such high pitch warblers as the vocalist on this track? The second track is a major improvement, gentle but understandable, extremely soft country not really my thing but much more bearable than I thought it was going to be.
The topics mentioned in the songs don't really do anything for me, the lyrics are metaphor laden and there's two kinds of tracks throughout the album - the ridicul...more |

Next up on the Glastonbury album list for me is "Oh My God, Charlie Darwin" by The Low Anthem, labelled as alternative country, it'd be better off describing it as country music gone wrong. Musically it's not too bad, rather slow but ok providing you can stand the mouth organ. The vocalist occasionally seems like he's going for a Paul Simon type voice but too often ends up singing like Fireman Sam with his pants on fire, a perfect example of the latter is the title-track that starts the album off and is probably the worst introduction to an album you can imagine.
