On Every Street - Dire Straits

This is the most experimental album by Dire Straits. It varies significantly from amuch earlier stuff and you'll either love it or think it's average. It covers a lot of different musical styles. I feel the first six tracks are great but then it tails off. CALLING ELVIS - A straight forward rock n' roll number dedicated to the king of rock n' roll. It has name of some Elvis's songs in its lyrics. ON EVERY STREET - A surprizingly mellow number revolving around a theme. One of the better tracks. This is the 5th opinion I've written on Dire Straits albums and it's getting difficult to find new ways of expressing my opinion. The obvious features, like Mark Knoplfer's guitaring skills, the tight, professional production, above average song writing ability get a bit samey after you've repeated yourself a few times. Their first album was good, the second got better, their third was brilliant, the fourth was a millimetre higher in talent and so on. And so... how to be different?
