Worth getting for the collection and not too expensive

Motorhead were fomed in 1975 by Ian kilmister better known as Lemmy (his name comes from his early days with Hawkwind for always asking "can you lemme a fiver?").
"On Parole" is the bands first professional recording from 1975 although was never released until 1979 - the line-up on this recording was : Larry Wallis (guitar/vocals) Lucas Fox (drums) and of course, Lemmy (bass/Vocals). The recording wasnt released at the time as the bands record label United Artists were unhappy with the recording.
I rememeber "On Parole" when it came out on record in 1979, it was released by EMI after the band had established some success with Phil Taylor on drums and Eddie Clarke on guitar thought by most people as the "definitive" line-up and the one responsible for their classic "Ace Of Spades".
When I first heard this on vinyl I remember thinking that the songs didn't have the same impact as their later albums and at the time I was somewhat confused as I thought it was going to sound like "Overkill" or "Bomber", being older now I definately appreciate this album a lot more and it has influenced my interest in Lemmy's previous band Hawkwind.

This cd contains songs that Lemmy wrote whilst in Hawkwind such as "Motorhead", "Lost Johnny" and the "Watcher", there are some Larry Wallis penned songs on here too like "City Kids". My personal favourite song on here is "Iron Horse/Born To Lose": I prefer it to other versions of this song, it's a lot more chilled out with a heavy blues feel to it.
This cd is more suitable for a Motorhead collector than for someone wishing to sample the band for the first time, it is definately worth buying to complete your collection or to replace your old worn out vinyl copy as I did, plus you get four extra "out take" tracks.
As for the band - long may they rock! I recently saw them in Manchester (with The Damned and Girlschool), Motorhead never dissapoint they are pure Rock 'n' Roll.
