Once More With Feeling: The Singles 1996-2004 === The Band === Placebo are an alternative rock band, who formed in 1994, in London. The band was formed when former class mates Brian Molko and Stefan Oldsal, met on the night Brian was playing at a local bar, and from the strengh of his performance, Stefan decided they should start a band. In their early years, they were known as Ashtray Heart. But they decided to change their name to Placebo. They recruited Robert Schultzberg has their drummer, but he later left the band due to personal reasons. They then asked Steve Hewitt to be the drummer, to which he agreed and they began making ...  Read the complete review

This is a review of the DVD of the singles collection as having tried to add the product Dooyoo insisted it already existed - so not to cause you all to say it is in the wrong category... That is why it is here! In light of the recent announcement that Placebo are to bring out their 6th Studio album 'Battle For The Sun,' which for those of you who like the band it is out 08/06/09, not that we haven't been waiting for what seems like an age for the thing to be announced - let alone released.. Now we know that it's headed our way I was slightly apprehensive to hear the new single which was played exclusively on Radio One on Tuesday night... When I heard it, I ...  Read the complete review

I felt I would do a small review for this lot. They have provided a somewhat miserable soundtrack to part of my life and their music is not as widely discussed as I would like. This album gathers some of their biggest hits to date. Who are they: UK based Indie group, with alternative and androgynous lead singer Brian Molko. On this album: The mesmerising 'Nancy Boy' brings back some harsh memories of depressing times. The single arrived amidst a wave of controversy, thanks to the odd appearance of Brian Molko. People didn't like how he dressed and found him disturbing. No more so than Boy George really. The song is a difficult ...  Read the complete review

After four studio albums, Placebo, one of Britain's most creative but criticised bands, unleashed a best of which chronicled the singles from 1996-2004. This is a very comprehensive collection, the only one it misses is their very first single 'Come Home', which although being brilliant, isn't what I'd consider a significant single release, so it's not too important. On here you have all the classic hits such as 'Nancy Boy', 'Pure Morning', 'You Don't Care About Us', 'Every You Every Me', 'Special K', 'The Bitter End' and 'Special Needs'. Although all of the above mentioned tracks are fantastic and rightfully crowned classics in the ...  Read the complete review

Great music, Good mix of song styles Not as good as they get

More ambitious. Still uses other bands' ideas.

It's difficult to, imagine Christmas without, Band Aid and Wizzard Some classics aren't thereand Cliff Richard is on itfar too bloody much

Contains many popular Cure hits, some new stuff, and a limited edition acoustic versions CD with some recordings that supercede the original studio versions, in my opinion Commercially biased, nary a look in to the darker side of The Cure, there's a few dud songs in there, and the inlay booklet's a bit sparse

Ferocious vocal tone, fine guitar work, an excellently executed album. This was Kill Your Idols final album, the band is now no more.

Revealing post-metal debut, with a commendable range of styles. Lacks consistency and confidence.

Exploiting Dysfunction - Cephalic Carnage
Talented mix of styles. Deliberately inaccessible.

Destruction Of The Void - Count Raven
Stronger and more gripping than its predecessor. Distracting vocals and inconsistent approach.

Don't Dance Rattlesnake - The Films
There are only twelve tracks on this album. All twelve tracks are terrible.

Death Is This Communion - High On Fire
Excellent husky vocal performance, a fine display of instrumental power. A lack of musical diversity is shown here, the tracks are all incredibly similar.
