ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST is the tite of British indie rock band HARD-FI's album.
The album features 11 tracks which I will review.

The opening song SURBURBAN KNIGHTS contains some great guitar work with wonderful melodies. When the vocals kick in the song is given extra energy.

I SHALL OVERCOME tries to be uplifting in the lyrics though the music's lack of energy means it doesn't sond as inspiring as it should.

TONIGHT is a fat paced song with strong vocals and a good chorus that has nice melodies.

WATCH ME FALL APART is quite negative lyrically and the instrumental work doesn't have the same vigour as other songs.

I CLOSE MY EYES is a mellow track where the vocals sound better and the guitar is smooth.

TELEVISION tries to tell a story, but fails and the vocals and instruments are lacking an edge and can be quite aggressive at times.

HELP ME PLEAS is a tired tune that lacks any spark not helped by the droning vocals and lack of energy and has a moody tone to it.

CAN'T GET ALONG once more portrays negative vibes meaning the music sounds depressing.

My favourite song on the album is WE NEED LOVE. Although the lyrics come close to being cheesy the message is more uplifting and the vocals are aided by the good instrumental support.

LITTLE ANGEL starts of slowly though builds towards the chorus and is the best sung song on the album.

The album concludes with THE KING a powerful song with great lyrics that add energy and is sung with passion and features wonderful guitar work.

Overall, the general tone of this album is quite negative. Most of the songs contain negative lyrics which aren't helped by the droning vocals. Some songs have an aggressive feel to them and you feel the band are really angry. When the songs are more uplifting the music is good and the instrumental work is mainly good.
The front cover has no artwork which is quite clever as well.

Avaliable from AMAZON at £2.98 this is okay, but there are better.
