Its surprising how you forget how good music is, I mean you?ll hear a song on the radio, you?ll have not heard for a long time, and then remember just how much you loved it and wonder why you never listen to it these days. Then again there are some bands/artists you follow that you really like, for me, The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Terrorvision, The Manic Street Preachers are all bands that I love and aspire to own all their albums. Every so often I?ll be in the mood for say, some Queen music, and when I start the music playing I find that I fall in love with the music all over again. It?ll make me feel good, a little happier and I?ll wonder why I forgot how ... Read the complete review

Well they deserve something for their latest effort. The band seemed to have progressed little with the exception of the wonderfully pastiche funk of 'Soul Driver'. Thing is, that isn't a bad thing. A collection of shuffling guitar work outs, and rootsy rock the title has to be ironic. Well produced, simple and catchy none of the songs (other than 'No one at all' with Paul Weller) disappoint. Well crafted, and wonderfully easy to enjoy their is a lot of pleasure to gain from this album, especially with the likes of 'Profit in peace', 'July' and 'Emily Chambers'. ... After hearing the single, "Profit in Peace", which I personally felt was brilliant, I soon rushed to buy the album. It was at this moment I realised that I must have been listening to a completley different album to the rest of the world. It was a really good album, exactly what I'd grown to love from Ocean Colour Scene. There are the slow, lingering mellow tunes like "So Low", but also the uplifting tracks like "Step by Step" and "Emily Chambers". Aswell as that there are those ... Read the complete review

Moseley Shoals and Marchin' Already are hard acts to follow for OCS, but with this, their newest album, they've not done too badly at all. The mellow tones of 'Profit in Peace' kick this album off in the usual OCS style which, if you've heard the other albums, you'll know well. They continue to run with the laid back guitar/lyrics for the next few songs slowly building up to the magnificent 'July'. Fans of 'Lock, Stock..' on C4 will recognise it as the theme music. It is a very upbeat song which characterises about half of what OCS produce. The rest of the album follows a more mellow theme which OCS seem to be able to pull off ... Read the complete review
