Before I go any further I think I should declare that I am a very big fan of G Gerry Rafferty and own many of his albums. I think he is underrated, both as a musician and as a writer. Anyway ? here?s my review of ?City to City.? Billed by many as Gerry?s fist solo album, that was, in fact, in 1971. Called ?Can I Have My Money Back?, it was released after Gerry had stopped being in the ?Humblebums? (with Billy Connolly) and started being in ?Stealers Wheel?(with Joe Egan). I have often wondered why it never became a hit in it’s own right. Home and Dry. This is a bit of a strange sound for G Gerry Rafferty It has some off-beat singing and this doesn’t seem to quite work right. I do normally skip this track. I have listened to it again whilst writing this opinion and I have remembered why I do normally miss it out. Island. This is a good track. It is a very relaxing sound that you can just sit back and shut your eyes to and enjoy this really nice song.
